Are these Bilsteins to improve off-road control? The stock shocks are awful on washboard roads and potholes. I completely compress the front struts so hard on them that it turns on the wipers!

My stock shocks feel great. I go slow on my rough gravel. Never a problem.

I’d like to hear a review of the ride.

Do you know if they are considering making a set for the Tremors? I only saw without Tremor off road package on all the listings.

I spent last week on my mountain property - where the 4-5 miles leading into and up to my property are rutted out gravel (Helene damaged washouts) and in many spots boulders jutting out with inclines as great as 14%.

I wasn't worried about the standard AWD but I was worried about the stock goodyears and suspension of the Maverick AWD Hybrid and those fears were confirmed every day on the mountain.

Multiple times the suspension stuffed a wheel or ran out of travel with an extremely loud bang (at speeds under 15mph) and going down the mountain often resulted in riding the brake and controlling a slide into the switchbacks.

So I will be looking at suspension and tire upgrades in short order. Bye bye already not great hybrid awd MPG.

I would definitely start with a 245/65-17 wheel and tire package if that's within your budget as it's the largest 'definitely fits, never rubs' tire with stock suspension.

if you're set on keeping the 19s, I'd try something in a 245/55-19 as it's almost the same height. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Falken&tireModel=WildPeak+A/T+Trail&partnum=455VR9WPATT&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes
Probably stick with a 235 to try and keep a little bit of efficiency.

If these bilsteins prove affordable then I will be going to a 17” wheel.

here's a previous thread talking about them.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...ension-for-maverick-show-your-interest.32109/

regarding the non-tremor, I'm sure that they say that because the tremor has unique springs and struts, and they designed the B8 kit around the stock awd springs to give a 1.75" lift.

I no idea what kind of lift you get with Tremor springs using B8. And, honestly, no idea how the B4 would perform compared to the stock Tremor struts. and while I have no information either way, it's possible that Bilstein makes the OE Tremor struts, whether they are the same as the B4 or a distinct model. (since the Tremor has different spring rates and a little more travel, a person might think they are not the same. they really shouldn't be. but again ... no facts, just thoughts.)

Sounds like you should have bought a true 4x4.
The Maverick is basically a Ford Escape with a longer wheel base.
AWD is not 4X4, even if your Mav has the diff lock.

Nope. AWD is not the issue. The tires and suspension are.

no, he really needs 2 vehicles to cover all his use cases. he's trying to do a LOT of things with 1 arrow in the quiver, and there's always going to be a trade-off.

if real tires and maybe a lift gets him there, at the cost of some mpg, that's not a big deal and certainly cheaper than 2 vehicles.
