Drivers mirror switch - broken

Anyone else have the mirror directional switch break; where the left arrow doesn't cause movement and latches versus returns to center? I'm the 95% driver, so not like the switch is clapped out. And nothing has been spilled into it.

This would be my first outright part failure (42k mi on the clock)

I took the switch assy out and removed the directional rocker cap. Two of the four white plastic tabs that center the rocker cap had broken, causing the cap to shift and not contact the post that actuates the actual switch. So I left the cap off and am pressing the "naked" switch posts. As far as I know, Ford does not stock just the cap...

Very few manufacturers would stock the individual pieces of an electrical component. Ford buys them as complete units not in pieces. Also liability issues possibly.

I had to replace those switches on my 02 F250. Since I had it apart, I replaced all of them. As I remember that was around $40 bucks.

My Driver's switch broke the little tab off the front of the window switch. Dealer replaced it in 15 min. I first went in and they looked at it and said they needed to order the part. I was called back latter that same day and they said they had the replacement part in stock. I went back the next day and in 15 minutes they had the assembly replaced. It is the whole assembly. Covered under warranty.

I ordered something similar off RockAuto, along with oil and air filters to ease the shipping. Note that there appear to be 3 if not 4 variations of this, guessing aligned with XL/XLT/Lariat feature sets, and maybe whether heated mirrors and BLIS.

I have no idea how the window/ mirror control panel changes between an XLT and Lariat.
I have a 23 XLT and my heated mirror control is right here on the heating and air conditioning control panel.

Some of the mirror/window switch descriptions contain heated/not heated and BLIS. Don't know if the switch panel actually delivers the heating current or manages the BLIS LED's, or if the switch panel is on a CAN or LIN bus--I didn't have time to suss the electrical drawing.

Does your existing switch panel have a heated mirror and/or BLIS buttons?
Isn't your heated mirror button if you have it located on your climate control panel?
What do you have to 'suss out'?
If you match one to the same style to your broken one. It should be Plug and Play.

You could be overthinking replacement switch thing.

I took a VERY quick look at elec diagrams. There appears to be four (?) variations of window and mirror control configs.

For, I assume XL: windows switch assy directly controls windows and mirrors and no auto up/down for driver.

XLT w/o BLIS or heated mirrors: Driver switch assy communicates via LIN bus to a Driver Door Module (DDM), and a Passenger Door Module (PDM) which controls windows and mirrors

XLT w/ BLIS and heated mirrors: Driver switch assy communicates via LIN bus to DDM and PDM which controls windows and mirrors, BLIS lights and heaters

Lariat: Driver switch assy communicates via LIN bus to DDM and PDM which controls windows and mirrors, BLIS lights and heaters, one touch up/dwn.

The latter also implies mirror folding and mirror memory that coordinates with seat memories. I wasn't aware ANY 22 ~ 24 Mav had those features.

Others may have studied diagrams to know more.

My Maverick has power folding mirrors. I have to exert a lot of arm power to fold them in and back out.
