OK, but at least it's a reflector, unlike the Maverick. It works as a safety feature, not just a translucent red screw cover.

Like my 2012 Focus. It doesn't light up either, but it reflects oncoming lights and it's a screw cover.:

😁😁 I just did the same pictures with my Maverick to show that it has no reflective properties, compared to a couple of actual reflectors.

Yeah, I did the same test. Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada...

You can tell by the molding that it isn't a reflector from the lack of any prisms.

@Glen Baker LLC, that reminds me of the similar test I did to prove that the clear markers everyone was buying cheap had no reflective qualities as well. The odd thing is that they look reflective, but definitely are not:

The entire point of those reflectors is to "reflect" the headlamp light from oncoming vehicles -- typically when the driver or passenger is opening the door to exit on a busy street. Oncoming drivers have their attention focused on the reflected light -- assuming they are not looking at their phone at the time...
You're right of course. But how do you feel about the fact that those pieces on the Maverick aren't actually reflective and are useless at anything but covering a door panel screw? Cheap, huh?

On a side note:

I have a 2012 Ford Focus SE that has a notably more upscale interior build with no fake pieces like this at all. More durable plastics, no missing glovebox dampers, no missing fender insulation, tilt headrests front and rear, etc. SE was the second-lowest trim level at the time.

So one cheap product solution that doesn't require extensive work - a true good quality reflector replacement piece.

Even better if the 25/26 was exactly the same.

Trim to fit. Slap it on, mudder the words, That'll do. And call it a day.😁

I've got some of that tape I was going to use on the bike - the reflective angle is terribly narrow.

Now - the driver should obviously take a peek in that big reflective thing before opening the door to confirm no vehicle coming up - so it shouldn't matter much.

But if someone was forgetful and leaving dark door open on dark street and have their cabin lights off and truck off - whew - I'd prefer a true reflective deep plastic piece.

Over the lifetime of the vehicle,
I would think it's more cost effective to produce 1 universal RED len, as a cover-up for that bolt / screw.
That way Ford does not have to stock different colors as the interior color changes and also you don't have to worry about mismatched shades of plastic. That would drive the OCD Crowd Nuts.🙄🙄

As far as lighting goes
Ford/Lincoln put these nice big white curved ones on the Corsair.
According to the Lincoln Forums.
They don't light up either.😲

If Lincoln didn't illuminate theirs. Ford sure as heck isn't going to light up the Mavericks red lens.🤣

If the reflection is bright enough, maybe lighted is unnecessary.

I just did another quick test.
3M reflective white and black tape against actual reflectors.
Heck I didn't even bother turning the tape over to see if it reflected better a different angle.

All tapes are not created equal.
Below is the medium grade reflective tape. This one also comes in RED 👇🏻

The next one is very similar to Coast guard Marine rescue tape.

Exactly. If the headlights are shining at a light on the edge of the door rather than a reflector, the light will just wash out anyway. A reflector is much better in this case, IMO.

I have the black 3M reflective tape on the back of my Ebike.
Not obvious until the headlights shine on it.
