When I first got my Maverick, I contacted Ziebart about protection film. They wanted $25 per door edge and $25 per door handle cup. Wasn’t worth it to me so I investigated Amazon. Ended up rolling the dice on this product.

Time will tell, but so far — I’m very pleased with the ease of installation, quality and look. Helps a lot when opening the doors inside the garage to get the car seat out. I ordered the 32ft roll ($19) and had enough to do my wife’s back doors and still have a lot leftover. So I threw some on the edge of my front hood — though I know it serves no real purpose haha I’m just still mulling over the value and look of an AVS hood protector

I used a similar edge guard on my 2008 ranger and water worked its way in between the strip and door and found rust when I went to change them🥺

You know, I’ve been trying to figure out if I do or not. It’s been so windy around here lately that I can’t tell if the guards have made any difference or if it’s just the extra wind and me overthinking. Regardless, nothing that is overwhelming if so.

That’s been one of my paranoid concerns since putting them on. Didn’t know how much water may actually creep during rain or car washes. I read in the reviews that someone used clear silicon at the ends to seal them off. Not sure if water would creep in anywhere else with how snug they are along the doors.

Look for AVS Bugflector II. I just ordered one from Realtruck (sponsor tab). I like that it covers the fenders and appears to be off the hood.

I live on the beach side of Washington state and I do believe they would rust in about a month, the salt air attacks metal very fast.

I wanted the flared fenders when I built my Maverick online and this is the exact reason I decided to forego them.

Eventually, I’ll probably take off the strip I put on the hood — then I can examine that area to see how ‘leaky’ the strips might be if moisture is present.

I've always used a small bead of silicon in the strip before I installed them. No room for rust and as they age they don't start getting loose and coming off.
