Saw a resurgence in car theft and left me wondering it it had one. I could not find any info on the manual nor online

Thanks for the links! I was being way too specific in my searches and not getting anything relevantYes. Every Ford sold in the US for decades has had SecuriLock, Ford's PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System). There is a microchip in the key that must be recognized or the vehicle will not start.
What you're hearing about is Hyundai/Kia until recently selling certain models that did not come with this basic security feature.

Agreed. But it also worried me because the Maverick is a cheaper truckYes. It has been a standard feature in pretty much all cars for decades. That's why the whole Kia/Hyundai thing is baffling. It's akin to them forgetting to add wipers.
No need to worry. Even a Focus or a Fiesta has this basic safety feature going back to 2000. Hyundai/Kia just cut corners on their cheaper models...Agreed. But it also worried me because the Maverick is a cheaper truck
