Does the Hybrid Maverick have a heat pump for heating? Of does it use a resistive electrical heater or both? Probably been asked before, but I missed it. Curious because of some observations made on several recent trip in cooler weather.

I guess that is why the highway rating on the truck is 33 MPG. I ran the heat on 68f on a 40f cold start 4 nights ago. When I wanted more heat, I kicked it up to 70f you could hear the engine start up if it wasn't running. Although I got 41 mpg on that trip of 35 miles. This observation was 8 miles into the trip home.

Looking foreward to first mid 40s lows next week. Regular heat from engine and some electric assist from defroster ‘toaster wire’ if selected or on Max heat settings.
Due to Prior Prius research the use of electric heating from hybrid batteries via 12v inverter heats up faster and actually runs the engine less.
Got the 120ac Ford installed inverter as a result. But not needed the truck has electric heat strips on max heat.
So use Max Heat always to warm truck the switch out of sauna mode later.
