Thanks for the video. I got up early today before the kids and grandkids got here for 4 th july picnic, and did the install on my xl. Works great. I also had to file the clamp part to fit. No big deal.

Great video. A few comments/suggestions/things I found out; I also had to dremel the cam a bit to get it to fit. The about 20 inches of wire is more like about 30 inches of wire. Bending the rod to just the right angle was a bit finicky. Make sure those wire splices are solidly connected.

Thank you for posting this. I just did this mod over the weekend and everything went as stated in the video without any major hiccups.

I will clarify, as already mentioned, the angle of the rod and the "throw" of the actuator are key elements to get the mechanism working properly. Once I sorted that, all was good. The whole install took about an hour, and I was taking my time.

I used wire, Posi taps, connectors, and looming that I already had on hand. I picked up the actuators on Amazon for $9.00. Not a bad investment for a remote locking tailgate, plus I have a spare actuator should something go wrong with the one I installed.

Is the quick tap wire connector the best option to tap into the wireing harness? I feel as though that form of tap is meant to be temporary.

not the only option, but the most convenient. you can tap the wires any way so see fit as long as it's those two wires and they are secured and well-insulated when you connect them.

Got the main part back on Prime day. Went to visit my mom and use the extra wire and connecting parts my father in law has today to finally install it. Being color blind was the first difficulty to overcome, I ended up taking pictures on my phone and holding the phone up for him to tell me if I had the correct wire. I picked the right yellow wire first, then I picked the wrong blue wire, he corrected me before connecting it, so all was good. Then it went fairly smooth until it was time to do the final adjustments. That got to be a little frustrating. Once I finally got it, I was very satisfied. Thanks for the video.
