Distance to empty with full tank? Why so low?

I know my truck still has less than 500 miles on it so its not "broken-in" yet. I'm also running 246/65 17s and the front has a one inch lift. I haven't done much highway driving yet but I'm averaging about 19mpg around town which recalculated for the tire size is about 20mpg.
Why when I do a full fill up and reset everything am I getting such horrible distance to empty figures? The figures remain consistent while driving. What is everyone else getting?

Am i doing something wrong?

The numbers don't add up, even with the worst gas mileage. I know they can be off but by this much? I use 89octane mid grade fuel each time I fill up.

They run off of your last 500 miles so if you're 200 miles have been hard and heavy cause your foot hasn't been the lightest it will affect your miles to empty heavily

One guy towing max weight only got 13 mpg out of his mav. That's 200 miles per tank

In my Escape Hybrid, MTE is very dependent on the last few miles driven. I've had tanks claim they'd last 750+ miles, because I filled them after a 30-mile, down hill trip. That overly optimistic forecast is quickly corrected....

I’ll try to take a photo next time. I have 1800 hwy miles. my distance to empty on a full tank premium fuel is around 390-410. Again, all hwy. xlt, Fx4. Very light foot as I had an electric car and pedal mgmt is everything.

And people are worried about EV range
Our EB Mav is getting about 380 estimate at fill-up and I’ve seen it break 400 but that quickly goes down when driving

My last full up showed like 430 to empty. Drove several miles and it was going down appropriately. MPG on the computer is 25.1.

Not sure what Ford does but my wife's Toyota still has a least 3 gallons of fuel when the cruising distance is 0. So the calc for distance is based on the tank capacity less 3 gallons and times the recent average MPG.

My 22 EB AWD shows between 450-650 miles to empty on a full tank. It depends how much city driving I’ve done. Best actual tank I got 606 miles averaging 37.6 mpg hand calculated. Best mpg was a short 50 mile trip I averaged 45.5mpg. I’ve made several short trips of 100-200 miles where I’ve averaged in the low 40s mpg.

My Mav doesn’t have the 4K it’s a 22 AWD lariat. I’ve found that it likes 55-65mph so 90% time I keep it in that range and use 87 E10. Pics of a couple of recent trips. Last trip I hand calculated the trip and the computer shows 39.9 but hand calculation 38.7 that was from west Memphis Arkansas to Bentonville Arkansas. 200 miles of it was I-40 rest was across country on 2 lane roads through a bunch of little towns and stops at about 6 flea markets. Computer was showing close to 42mpg until I bot off I-40 at Alma and took twisty mountainous road up to Fayetteville. That road kills mpg but it’s a beautiful drive.
