Did we really need a complete redesign of the gas cap?

I went to rotate my gas cans What I learned is, don't run out of gas. Engineering was involved in making this process harder. I never had any issues with the old gas cap style. I mean for the rare times I need the funnel, its nice to not have to dick with a gas cap anymore. And no I've never lost a gas cap in the past.

I put a regular funnel into the Ford funnel. It works.

Just knock the center out, that makes sense.
