Deep clean, paint correction, and sealant results on Cactus Grey

Spent my fathers day weekend doing one of my favorite hobbies, detailing my truck. I'm by know means a professional but I have always been very serious about caring for my cars paint. In the past I've had show cars and I treat my maverick like it's one as silly as that is

My truck is about 8 months old and I have kept it spotless since I bought it But I never have really dived deep and done everything that needed to be done to it. Upon delivery the hood had lots of very fine scratches that No one but me would ever notice. Other than that the paint was perfect.

Here's the process I used

Step I was paint prep
1. Chemical Guys strip wash
2. Adams iron remover
3. Claybar with strip wash

Step 2 Polish/scratch removal
1. Zaino fusion paint cleaner and swirl remover applied with DA polisher
2. Adams surface prep

Step 3 Sealant and protect
1. Zaino Z5 pro polish
2. Zaino Z6 Gloss enhancer
3. Zaino Z2 pro polish
4. Zaino Z8 grand finale spray seal

The products I use are not ceramic, they are a polymer sealant. I like ceramic for cars I don't want to spend time detailing but I enjoy detailing my Maverick so I'm sticking with the Zaino I've always used.

Of course the pics don't do it justice, my camera is terrible and the green in cactus grey just won't show up in pics.

Still, looks great! My cactus grey is hard to notice after detailing too, not like some of the black ones on here. Need sunglasses to look at them!

I've used Zaino since around 2005 and I'm just so used to it now. I understand it's older technology now compared to all the ceramic stuff but I guess I just don't like change.

My mom and I have always been a fan of Cactus Grey. If she were to buy one for herself, it would've been this. It's too bad they discontinued it. I don't know why. It was proven to be popular. I see them all the time. Same goes for the Bronco and Bronco Sport. It's beyond me when automakers discontinue popular colors.

Ranting aside, it looks fantastic, Derek. This color is very easy to maintain since it's light and hides a lot. I have a similar color on my mom's Jeep Wrangler, which ironically, also got discontinued recently. It's called Earl. It was available for just a few model years and then, poof, gone. Just like Cactus, it was proven to be a popular color since I see them everywhere around here. This is a glimpse of it...

Totally agree, when I ordered mine I was going to get Area 51, cause I loved it! But too late, discontinued, so I chose cactus and like it also.

Agree about the CG and even that Earl color. Seems like a distant cousin of Area 51.

I have to admit, I think the Porsche "Chalk" and Audi "Nardo Gray" nonmetallic colors are a bit played out, but the other domestic-make "flat" colors are rare enough that they are still attractive. My Area 51 truck has turned out to be more of a variable "mood ring" type shade than any metallic or pearlescent vehicle I've ever owned. Love it.
