Then you haven’t spent 10 minutes on this site or Fords researching the vehicle you bought.

This is a shitpost. Period.
Wow. Some aggression there. I actually peruse this site daily and enjoy learning from others. Alas, you just want to denegrage me and others rather than teach. A shame, but you do you. Peace.

Part of the reason I ordered my Mav with the copilot is that on my 2016 MB vehicle when cruise control is engaged the care basically drives itself. Slows down, speeds up, follows curves, etc. It's really stunning how good it is.
The first few times I engaged it in the Mav I thought I was doing something wrong or there was a problem. Read the manual, read stuff here.
No, no problem, its just crappy. I don't use it at all.
Maybe newer Ford versions will be better.

There is often confusion between the two systems: Co-Pilot 360 and Co-Pilot 360 Assist. I have a Lariat (that includes Co-Pilot 360 Assist) and I use the 'intelligent' adaptive cruise control almost daily. We have lots of 4 way stops close to home. During rush hour it works great keeping the truck rolling slowly towards the intersection on its own... As for the lane-centering assistance (not to be confused with the lane-keeping assistance that comes with Co-Pilot 360). Although I will let the lane-centering assistance steer the truck at times 99% of the time I keep at least one hand on the wheel and both eyes on the road. It tends to opt out of steering on slightly aggressive turns and also likes to freak out going over small, raised bridges. I have had to intervene a few times as it wanted to turn into the shoulder as we exited the bridge deck where the road lines dip. Overall I like both of the 360 packages, and I can't wait to go for a nice long road trip now that I am retired.

I think the issue is the subject line “death trap?”

that’s a bit over the top. But I can see having a legit question about the drivers assistance technology. It can be new and weird when trying it for the first time.

Just so all concerned know, I was trying to determine the parameters of my new vehicle and had not let go of the steering wheel nor stopped paying attention. Our Escape does lane center and I assumed my Maverick would do the same. Obviously the Co-pilot 360 feature on it is worthless and I won't use it. "Deathtrap" was used as a means to attract attention since I didn't know there were people who check the site on a regular basis.
A question for those who own 2025s. In your opinion, does the lighting system provide sufficient coverage for you to feel comfortable when making turns? LEDs are fantastic, but they are so aimed that there is little coverage. In our hilly area I use the high beams manually on our Escape to illuminate the upcoming hill to spot our local deer population.

I think Ford needs to rethink how they brand/label/describe the Co-pilot family of products. They leave everyone confused including the dealers and sales people. Essentially there are different "levels" of CoPilot360. Ford is essentially nudging people up the trim levels to get the features they are after. People have started to assume that most vehicles now have adaptive cruise. And a lot of people have come to assume lane assist means lane centering. So lots of people are confused. If I hadn't been watching a lot of Long McArthur vids on the Maverick I wouldn't have known the differences to be honest. And when I went out shopping for quotes from dealers I found out that most of them don't know the differences.

You know about assuming....right?

I am hoping a moderator steps in and changes the "sensational" title since the OP admitting using it to "attract attention"

Most auto sales people know nothing about the vehicles they are trying to sell. When I went to one dealership with my wish list, he told me the 2024 had to have the bedliner installed aftermarket. I knew it was standard on the Lariat. So he was adding $600 to the Lariat base price for the bedliner. His OTD price was $3200 higher than the other two dealers I had previously visited.

My brand new XLT which has Copilot 360 drifts partially across the center line or onto the shoulder before correcting, sometimes to cross over to (and past) the other. Is there something wrong or merely a limitation of the system. We have an Escape Titanium that stays right in the center hands-free.
It’s called ‘DRIVING’. Keep your hands on the wheel and you’ll be fine.

Now that you know how it works.
What makes it useless?

Except for extreme circumstances.
I feel moderators/Admin. should stay out of our threads and postings.
The title can be edited by the OP if they wish.

I am relatively new here. The most discouraging posts, by far, are the angry men who think new people to this site should know exactly how things work and/or what was posted twice before, years ago. I’m sure they’re joys to be around in person.
