Dear Ford, please add a split fold rear seat

Add a split fold rear seat.

A full bench renders under seat storage inaccessible for anyone with a carseat.

I just got my truck two days ago. 2023 Lariat Hybrid a buyer walked away from... and the dealer marked up. Whatever. I got my unicorn. So far I LOVE it.

But I'm starting to notice areas for improvement. For starters, the underseat storage in the rear seat requires the whole bench to be lifted.

For anyone with a latch installed carseat that renders underseat storage unusable. For one, once a carseat is professionally installed, it really shouldn't be moved. Second, removing a carseat and reinstalling it is a pain in the rear. A split fold rear seat would mean the car seat doesn't have to be removed. Heck, it would mean storage would be accessible even with one person in the rear. So that's a gripe I'll leave here. Do people have other little issues they'd like to see addressed in future model years?

Keeping in mind it is a budget truck:

A split rear seat.
A radio tuner that is actually capable of tuning in HD radio stations.
Wireless AA/CP.
A NAV screen that utilizes the entire space provided, and is HD.
Swap the steering wheel controls to match the rest of the civilized world.
Move the drivers window controls back about 2-3". Whoever designed this must have gorilla length arms.

Minor gripe but a high/low temperature setting on the heated steering wheel would be nice. I find I can't keep it on very long as it gets too warm for me to be comfortable.

Gonna disagree with that one. Escape has exact same layout and I have zero issues with it. In fact, the consistency is why I'm sticking with Ford to begin with.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. Every vehicle I have ever owned with Cruise Control had the buttons on the right side and the cluster controls on the left. Ford has that reversed.

I would like an XM Radio built in and a Rear Window Defroster.....But I really like the split rear seat idea too. All that would be great.....but not as great as an All wheel drive PHEV.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. Every vehicle I have ever owned with Cruise Control had the buttons on the right side and the cluster controls on the left. Ford has that reversed.

I can't think of any in my work fleet or I've owned set up that way. Closest being the older ones before fancy dashboards sometimes having it in split on both sides.

It's a crap shoot. My current VW has it on the left, wife's Subaru is on the right. My '11 Toyota had a little stalk on the right side of the column, my '12 VW had a little stalk on the left.

Yep, budget truck.

Split rear seat - more money
HD radio tuning - more money
Wireless AA/CP - Sync 4, more money
Larger NAV screen - Sync 4, more money
Civilized steering wheel controls - no standard, my VW is like Maverick
Drivers window control location - us gorillas like them where they are.
No longer budget truck.

Personal choices aren't always possible - some hate the door pulls, some like them. Some like the knob drive shifter, some don't. Some like the blue trim, some don't.

Sounds more like the lowest common denominator being Japanese cars where, y'know, the native market is right-hand drive.

Split rear seat on XLT and Lariat at least (you know in line with the whole armrest thing they are already doing) I can accept the XL needs to stay budget. Removing the carseat everytime you want to use the underseat storage is absolutely beyond rediculous. Make it 60/40.. This isnt' that much more money.

I’ve been very pleased so far with my Maverick. It has more features than I anticipated or had in my 2013 Volvo. You can see some of the areas where the money was saved but overall it’s a nice pickup for the money. I would like a split rear seat but it is what it is. My youngest is so close to a booster, she is my last in the car seat and I can’t wait!
