Update.

I called the Ford dealership to find out who is the general manager because their website doesn't state it. I then sent the following angry email:

Mr. Steinke,
I have been informed that you are the general manager at Corwin Ford Reno.
My name is ... and I have become a victim of your team's dishonesty, anti-consumer practices, and unprofessionalism. Your team stole my Maverick order and then lied to me about it.

I placed an order for a Maverick last August at your dealership and paid the deposit money accordingly. I worked with Robert Mendez and Andrew Lienti. I followed its build and delivery progress through Ford's tracking system. The Maverick was delivered on January 8th, 2022. I even drove late that night to the dealership and saw it at a distance, a velocity blue Maverick with the offroad FX4 package. The only blue one on the lot.

Next day I call your salesman Robert Mendez and he tells me the one I ordered has not arrived yet, but they expect it in a couple days. A couple days go by and he tells me it has not arrived, maybe next week. I also went to the dealership and spoke with your sales manager Cory Skeen twice in person and he tells me the same story, that it was not delivered and that Ford's tracking system is broken. That the VIN number I got from Ford is not in the computer. That he will call me back the next day. Well I never got a call back from Robert or Cory, I had to keep calling the dealership for more information and it was the same story.

I called Ford Corporate several times and confirmed it was delivered and that something strange was happening with your dealership.

After over a month I gave up on this Maverick and your dealership suspecting foul play and got my deposit back. I have since then acquired the Carfax report and it shows that the Maverick I ordered was sold on January 15th.

So this whole time your people were lying straight to my face.

I have reported this to Ford Consumer Relations and I have posted my story in social media so that people are aware of your dealership's terrible practices.

Maverick Order # 1028
VIN 3FTTW8F90NRA19820

Soon after I got a call from the actual owner of the dealership.
The manager I sent the email to forwarded it to the owner.

In the call he gave me a thousand apologies and said that this type of thing is his worst nightmare because now he loses me as a customer for life and anybody else I tell about.
He said had a meeting with his team about this and even lost his cool with them. He did make some excuses for his guys not finding the VIN in the computer because it was sold. I said I don't believe them because they promised they checked everything and should have easily found out. His people need to be reprimanded for what they did.
He offered me to sell me a Maverick at some discount but it would take at least 8 months to get one. I told him I am not interested anymore and I am that I am happy with my new truck.

I also reported my story to Mike Levine.
Hopefully it doesn't just end with the owner saying something to his people. But that the Ford Corporation also calls them out on it really sinks in that they can't be pulling this shit anymore.

Man, Mike Levine must be inundated with emails and messages because of so many scummy dealerships out there. I see all these terrible stories posted on this site.

Thanks for taking the time and efforts for doing this even though you bought something else. Hopefully stories like this will help current and future customers.

Wow, reading through this was nuts. Sorry you had this experience but I am really glad you proceeded with making a stink and getting some justice, FWIW. I am glad you wound up with a truck you like but sorry this happened anyway. Great detective work, Mav forum!

Sorry this happened to you. What a crappy dealership, with an obvious top down problem.

Absolutely infuriating to see your truck not only sold to someone else, but also serviced there... TWICE! Mind blowing.

I know you have another truck now but let me make a suggestion.

Tell the owner you want to accept the new discounted Maverick and get him to give you a written agreement confirming the deal. Then wait until it comes in either take it and sell it, keep it and replace your other truck, or refuse it.

BTW, whatever writing you get should be signed by the owner and you and should at least fully describe the Maverick, specify the price (showing the discount), agree that there will be no add-ons, and promise that they will place the order on the first day the order banks open.

Dang just read everything on this thread. First I would have gone scorched earth. Second - I wanted to yell out loud when the OP said - I told him I am not interested anymore and I am that I am happy with my new truck. ARRRRRGGGHHH. I would have first said I better get a hell of a discount and you better find me a truck ASAP. Corwin has multiple dealerships and certainly could come up with a truck if they had to. Watching the end of this thread was like watching a tv show where the scumbag husband has hit his wife and the police ask the wife - well, do you want us to arrest him ? She answers no, he promised he wont do it again ....... ARRRRRGGGGHHH.
