My dealer added too much oil.

I thought it would be easy to suck some out via the dipstick tube but the process wouldn't work. At all. Any ideas other than remove the drain plug a few revolutions and let it drip out the bottom?

I had 0.25" O.D. 0.17" I.D. Tube and syringe. Tight seal on syringe. Nothing would come up but dipstick is high. Dipstick is up to my fingernail. I used a hose a little longer than the dipstick

Yes I planned to suck out 16 to 24 syringe fulls whatever it took since I already had the materials, If it avoided me having to get under the truck.
Any ideas why this isn't working?

Walmart has an oil change pump in the auto section that is made for what you are trying to do. It is powered by your battery with clips and has a long small suction tube and a larger outlet tube. It works great for oil or transmission fluid.

Running the engine for more than a minute or two with that much extra oil in it is going to aerate your oil and cause an engine failure.
The reason this was not "urgent" for me, since it is a hybrid, as long as I stay off the highway, my engine never runs for more than a minute or two.

But agreed. Not good. And at some point I am going to want to take a highway trip!

Yes.

So odd I could not get something similar to work in a hybrid Maverick.
I tried a few attempts. Started with tube longer than dipstick, tried same as dipstick, and did multiple tries while pulling it out slightly. Only sucked air.

I tested the tube. No holes. With my finger on the end, the tube held pressure and vacuum.

So It's a mystery why this doesn't work.
The tube was stored in a coil and does want to curl. I DID use heat to try any relax the curl. The curl is not much holding the tube in open air, but I'm having real bad luck at this. Hence my confusion over an otherwise simple task.

I ordered the Blackstone Hand powered Vacuum pump. It worked well first try.

I removed 28 ounces of oil by filling the 3 oz little sample tube not quite full 10 times and poured it into a larger container. Got the oil to just barely below the second hole. I ran 1 quart over filled from the dealer for about 500 miles. Stop n Go. So the engine was off for half of that, and any foam or bubbles probably had time to settle.
