So I took the family to DC and back from Southeastern Ohio in the XLT Hybrid. Total trip (a little over 700 miles) going through both ways I averaged an impressive 35.5 mpg. However, 3/4 of the way there, I had a check engine like come on and stay on. Had to stop at an Advanced Auto Parts to scan the OBD2 codes and it all came back normal. So I carried on. After a stop of about an hour or so, the light was no longer on. Again on the return trip about 3/4 of the way home, the light returned. Both times I got a message in the Ford Pass app stating that the light was Regulatory. I assume something with emissions and the catalytic converter but I’m going to have to schedule a stop at my dealer soon.

Were you towing or had a heavy load (lots of people and stuff?)? Was it on hills or flat? Speed at the time? Were you in hybrid or electric at the time?

Being a new vehicle the guess will be that it's just a faulty or loose sensor. Especially since it still drove without otherwise an issue. And going off and back on feels like a loose wire or a faulty sensor.

Ohio to DC and back is a lot of mountain/hill driving. I averaged between 70-80 mph through those portions. There were five of us in the truck (2 young kids and a baby) and some luggage in the bed, but not much for a 3 day trip. I spent a good bit of time looking for any loose connections as many on here have pointed out loose or disconnected harnesses in the engine bay. I couldn’t see anything with the naked eye but I’m not mechanic/electrician. I am also willing to bet it’s a bad/loose sensor somewhere. The light is no longer on but I’m still making a call Monday to have it checked out. And it coming up as ā€œregulatoryā€ has me wondering if it’s emissions related.

About 2 months ago I was driving from my house into Milwaukee when I got "fuel door ajar". So I pulled into the next parking lot, and it was not ajar (nor a bottle), so I got back on the highway and after several miles the warning went away.
About 3 weeks ago, driving home from Milwaukee, "fuel door ajar" came on again, so I pulled into the next parking lot, which was the same one that I pulled into the previous time, and just before I stopped it went away and hasn't come back on since then.

I know this is an old post but the same thing happened to me recently on my ā€˜23 Lariat hybrid and was curious if you had a resolution.

Mine did the same thing yesterday. Had mine for almost two years now and that's the first time its happened. I just closed the message. Not sure what triggers it though.
