So I’d like to get a front/rear dash cam for my hybrid. So many choices out there.
I’m looking at the Redtiger F7N model. Front/rear cameras, GPS, SD card storage, has an app, parking mode option with hard wiring. Not the most expensive cam out there but I think it has the features I would like. Can buy it for about $115 but will also need to get an SD card and hardwire kit. Link to its website below and it’s also available on Amazon.

Redtiger F7N

So I have some questions I was wondering about.
1 - Has anyone used this dash can that could provide some feedback on it? Pros/cons? Would you recommend it to others?

2 - We all hear so much about people with deep sleep issues. Are any of you hybrid owners using a dash cam with parking mode active NOT having deep sleep issues? Deep sleep, luckily, is sort of Bigfoot to me. I‘ve never encountered it but others claim it exists. Parking mode is always on so I figure it could contribute to battery drain and, therefore, deep sleep issues.

3- I’m actually surprised I can’t find a dash cam that has a particular feature - to use the dash cam’s GPS to allow you to set up a geofence that can enable/disable parking mode. This would allow users to automatically disable parking mode when the vehicle is in your own garage, eliminating unnecessary battery draw down. Is anyone aware of this feature on any dash cam or if any Alexa enabled dash cams can be configured to act this way through the Alexa app?

I appreciate your feedback on these or any other dash cam knowledge you feel is useful.

I have a dash cam, still in the box , and I wish I would have installed it. Some teenager turned into my drivers door and I wish I would have had it working. She claimed I tried to pass her by driving on the sidewalk.

as far as dash cam I don't think there is a horrible one or the best. I have one, it does not have read facing, i'ts not wifi, but it does the job, it has a SIM card, I think all cars should have them.

Id say get one with a screen. So god forbid you get into an accident you can show the police exactly what happened. If not you are gonna need a USB adapter for the micro sd so they can view it on their pc in the cruiser.
You can do the rear view camera as an add on but that's up to you.

I have the F7N-PLUS . I like it I have it wired so the parking mode works. Running the wires to the fuse block and rear camera wasn't very difficult. I don't really do much with the cam, but it is there if I do need it. Once in awhile I will pop out the memory card and review some clips on my computer. I forgot it had an app never really used the app. I have an EB and haven't had any deep sleep issues.

Thx Rentman. Your plus model I believe is only different from the F7N as yours includes an SD card.
What hardwire kit did you use? I don’t think Redtiger’s comes with one that fits the micro 3 fuse to tap into.
Also, is it pretty much out of the driver‘s sight mounted to the right of the rear view window?

I have had the F7N installed for about 18-months. No problems, video quality has been excellent. I contacted the supplier and they sent me the hard-wire power harness at no charge. I contacted them again inquiring about the availability of an interior mount rear camera- they responded by sending me one for free.

I just purchased a Rexing V1-4k ultra HD. dash cam with wifi. It is front only, but figure it will tell the story just fine. The day it arrived, still in the box I hit a deer on my wifes Camry. I also had just changed insr companies after 10 yrs. I would have loved to have had the video to show them what had happened. I have since installed the dash cam. It took maybe an hour just taking my time hiding the cables. It was very easy to do. There are videos on cable routing and how to use the dash cam. They are 99.00 but go on sale for 65.00 or so all the time. I purchased an new open box unit for 50.00, and am very satisfied.

Haha. Yeah. When I was just checking on the micro 3 fuse tap I think I need, they offered to send me their hardwire kit. I don’t think it has that fuse tap though. Did you hardwire yours? Use parking mode? Any info on what you used to do so. would be appreciated.

First I would never show anyone anything at the accident scene, police have 7 days to finish thier report, go home review the video and then send it.
BTW, sim adapter is $15 bucks. You sent the police and your insurance company a copy of the video at the same time. NEVER mention to the other driver you have a video, let them hang themselves.

I don't think it would have made any difference since you were the only one involved.

True, but would have felt better calling my new insr company with video.

Correct, edit before you show the ins and police. I’ve had to show a few frames to an officer once after someone tried to squeeze through a tight gap on a street and rubbed my bumper and said I hit her. Cops saw and quickly told the woman to keep it down. No damage and I easily got the black rubber marks off. Those mini SD adapters are a few bucks but haven’t seen any as high as $15. I actually got a few when I bought the 32gb and 64gb cards. Some come with a couple of adapters for free. And yes I agree don’t let the other person know u have a camera, let them sweat it out.
Any dash cam is better than none.

Actually it might help. If the insurance company doubts it was a deer hit, you can prove it. For my daughter her first deer hit was a $100 deductible because it was a natural event. She had to prove it. Not hard because there was still fur and blood on the car. The second one she missed the deer but slid on ice and went in a ditch. Because she missed the deer, there was no deer proof, and even if there was it was considered an "at fault accident". $1000 Deductible. So proof can make a difference. Also we learned.. Hit the damn deer. She did way more damage in the ditch and had way higher deductible.
