So I'm not experiencing CV axle issues, let me just get that out of the way. But for people who've experienced it, had noticable is it? Is the vibration on par with like the shudder issues we used to see? More violent than that? Less violent than that?

Just trying to get a baseline. Beyond the vibration, I've also heard the best way to tell is that CV axles will click while going around corners, and leak grease. Just for peace of mind, are there any other things we should be on the look out for?

I'd also be curious to know what the failure rate on these CV axles is, but I doubt we have that information.

Over time it will shake enough to start to make you feel sick when accelerating. There is a different thread with a pool that gives you a very rough idea of numbers. Mine failed at 36k. Covered under warranty.

if you want to test a CVJ for looseness, go to a parking lot, put in Reverse, turn wheel all the way left and give moderate throttle, repeat on right . if it's starting to fail, this will let you know. part of my tried and true tests before buying used vehicles.

Based on the “broken axles” poll on this forum, 32 members have responded that they have had broken axles / failed CV joints. There are 33,600 registered maverick forum members.
so it’s happening to 1 in 1 thousand maverick owners?

I just got my 2022 repaired and picked it up this week. I had taken it in at 33k miles and the tech could not find anything. The problem continued to get worse and at 39k it was just not acceptable to drive. Being as the truck was out of warranty I was concerned that this would all be on me. I took it to the dealer and went on a test drive with the service manager. He nailed it immediately. Turns out he had seen it before (CV axles needing replaced) and the best news is, that this issue is covered under the longer power train warranty so I did not have to pay for it. Now, the truck drives new again.

Interestingly enough, like so many others have said, it was much more pronounced on the passenger side. Repair took a week, including waiting on parts and they did give me a rental for the full period. Hats off to Johnson-Sewell Ford in Marble Falls, Texas.

Update. 9/2025 The replacement CV axle did not hold. The same problem returned at 60,000 miles. I took the truck in today and the dealership is able to make the repair again - for free - since the replacement parts were deemed defective. Boots cracked also.

My 2023 xLT is at the Dealership getting the bad axles replaced as we speak. 36,000 miles it's covered under my warranty

Bad Math! Thousands of these members have had their Mavericks less than a year and/or low mileage drivers. Thousands or others are still waiting on their delivery.
Why would there be thousands waiting for their mavericks? There’s thousands of mavericks sitting on dealer lots being offered for thousands less than MSRP.

Even if only half of the forum members have over 10k miles on their maverick, that would still be a failure rate of 1 in 500.

So while it's something to be aware of, it's not something someone should be losing sleep over?

Fair point, but you can counter with the fact that forums skew negative for every product. So arguably, the percentage of issues to people on this site is far higher than it is for the broader maverick population.

Right axle half shaft is shorter and angle is steeper.
with Rough Country 2” spacer lift, my left axle is 10.5 degrees.
