Anyone have experience of using the Curt Echo Brake Controller? 4 - 7 pin plug & play connector for trailer brakes.

I have had my camper out three times using the Curt Echo device. It works great and is adjustable just like a controller on the dash but in the app. I haven’t had any need to use for sway control. (Fortunately) When I press the button in the app it activates the brakes just like the Reese in my F 150. Plus Ford gives you a 15 amp fused power connection with the flex bed connection.

I used the Curt 4 pin to 7 blade & 4 pin out. Glad I didn’t have to get the $120.00 t-harness or splice into the harness.

I will add pics later. I used the included mount plate but flattened it out and put the connector just under the oem 4 pin but I had to grind a notch in the corner for the four pin on the Curt. Looks like a dealer installed option.

The app is reportedly being updated but in its current form I think I’d instead go with the Tekonsha Prodigy RF, particularly if only using a single trailer, particularly if you can find a good used one.

I used one on my Bronco Sport for three years pulling my camper with no problems. Had to as the Sport had no port to plug a wired one in and no one at the time wanted to attempt to install a wired one on a new model. The Curt was easy once I installed a seven pin. Don't need to use it on my XLT with tow package.

Here are pics of my 7 way connector install. The app has been updated and it works great. best part is it isn’t hard wired to the tow vehicle or trailer. If you are concerned with the app get the BT button for the dash.

Did you install the 7 pin connector yourself?

Yes. Used the flex bed connector that came with the Maverick. The top of the 7 contact connector is pushed up into the cut out for the factory 4pin. The echo uses the 12v power blade on the truck to power the brakes and itself so you don’t need to supply power to the brake blade. The two screw heads above the connector are where I flattened the curt bracket for support. It was purely accidental that the bottom lined up to the bottom of the bumper cover.

Did the screw holes for the Curt bracket line up with the OEM 4-pin? I'm looking to do this same thing. How hard was it to run the 12V from the flex bed connector? Did you need to any additional wiring?

It was very easy. The pigtail seemed short until I got into the fender from underneath after I removed the harness from the the back of the cover plate. There is enough wire on the harness I think to reach the front of the bed. The 7 way is lined up by placing the top of the housing in the notch from the 4 way installed by ford. I flattened the angle bracket (on the driveway floor with a hammer) and drilled two holes above the the plastic housing where the holes in the flattened plate lined up, you can see the bolts in the picture. Because I wanted a clean looking installation and wanted easy access to the 4 way plug, I notched the bottom left corner of the plate on the truck to allow the 4way to mount in the bracket from the kit.
For the wiring I connected the 12v positive wire from pigtail to the power/12v wire (blade that supplies power to charge the trailer battery or other accessories.) and connected the ground from the plug kit to the chassis of the Maverick. I capped the ground on the flex connector from ford.
The brake wire is unused because the echo uses the accessory 12 v blade to power the brakes.

Bundled and tucked the excess wire up with cable ties and everything works great.

Got 2,000 miles of towing so far and all gear experiences.
