Why are people paying for windshields, don't have insurance?it's a very cheap option on policy, should include calibration.
Not all insurance companies are the same. I used to have Progressive and they had a $0 windshield option. When I switched to State Farm they offered no such thing. It falls under your comprehensive deductible, which is $1000 in my case so it's not worth going through insurance.

Ask for the sound reducing windshield any way. Pay the difference. It's not very much unless you are buying from dealership.

The smudge in yellow is what's left of the 1" star crack to the upper left of driver vision. I forgot to take a before photo, but it was very rough on the outside, the wiper was pausing over it. Now it is completely smooth outside. Just this tiny mark visibke from the inside. If it keeps the windshield from cracking further I'm happy. $83 OTD www.penskeautoglass.com (Scottsdale AZ). I could have used insurance but don't want to see a jump in rates next month. I was passing their way, on my way home so I stopped in at 2pm and was out within 30 minutes.
Last time we had a windshield replaced, our rates went up a few months later. A repair worked for me this time.

Nope, but the increased monthly will ensure they get their money back and more as the payments keep going but the $3k repair is a one shot deal. Like I said, depends but in my case I def wish I didn’t use insurance
