I was told by my salesperson yesterday that the new car mgr was out of town last week for a Ford meeting. At the meeting dealers were told that COVP was no longer required for a new order and no longer in use. Yall know anything about that?

Is the COVP where they take your drivers license and you sign the paperwork? If so seems correct. I signed nothing for my order yesterday, but got my Ford confirmation email.

Houston area dealers are still requiring a DL and so far most everyone I’ve contacted a $500 refundable deposit.

I believe Tim said they are still collecting the CVOP for their orders.

The COVP is not related to whether you get the Ford Confirmation or not. The confirmation email just means that the dealer submitted the order through WEBDO, not that the COVP has been approved. I placed an order with my dealer last year and got the Ford confirmation email but come to find out four months later that they did not complete the COVP and therefore my order would never be built.

Mine did COVP and emailed a screenshot of the COVP approval.

So then should I email my dealer and ask for a copy of the ROVP?

Is it ROVP or COVP this time?

Correct, it is no longer required, but it is encouraged by Ford. And still in use....we completed some today.
We plan on doing it for all of our orders.

So if it's no longer required, what's the value in doing them?

I believe @fordvideoguy also stated on his stream that Ford is not requiring it, but that it is good to do. Maybe people are concerned Ford will revert to requiring it again. Who knows

Maybe they dropped it because so many people lost their orders last time.

Not 100% sure.... I'm still hoping that it will be a help in getting allocation for the retail orders.

Or if they change their mind, it is already completed.

I think you have it exactly right. Some dealers screwed up and it hurt customers.
But it will be a way for Ford to identify "rear" retail orders, and may be beneficial.
