Well, yeah, that's kinda the way it works. Everyone has to determine their own budget.

I have three kids ages 2-6. It isnt an issue for me because other vehicle is minivan, and we use that mostly when traveling with all three. That said, carseats in the mav is a definite negative.

Rearfacing in particular will force the front seat forward, too much for comfort in most situations, so it should be in middle or behind passenger.

Front facing is ok, a bit painful to install since the tether attachment requires the back seat folded down. Especially bad to install if doing multiple.

All this said, I was able to test it out, got both front facing and one rear facing installed. I now have process down, so can do it easier next time if needed. This of course depends on the seat, it needs to be narrow enough if installing three. My wife was not too comfortable in the passenger seat, since the rearfacing was behind her. My older kids definitely kicked the front, but they had room. All of this is for emergency situation in my case. If necessary, I might try the rearfacing in the middle, but that could be tricky since it needs to be installed last.

One other thing, the three if them were in close proximity, you know what that means if you are a parent.

If you plan on using mav regularly with multiple little ones, this is definitely something to think about. Honestly, OP, you might consider a minivan, that can be easily reconfigured for many situations.

Bummer that you are so tall😂

Just wondering why your 6 & 7 year Olds are still in booster seats? 🤔😊

I’m 5 10 and wife is about 5 8. Have an infant, probably 2yrs out from another kid. Keep my order that’s still unscheduled or should I move on?
Was curious myself, I am 5 10 was well.
Just went out to measure my 🐶.
With the drivers seat at 13 inches from dash, I have 9 inches from back of seat to front edge of rear seat, almost 5 inches of space from my knees to back of drivers seat. With 4.5 inches of headroom..

Laws vary state to state. Here in Tennessee age doesn’t make a difference, it’s height and weight based. Can’t speak for OP’s state though.

I'm 5'10" average build but my kids are grown so can't advise on that. However, there is plenty of height for me as the driver and my Mav has a sunroof so minus 1.5 inches of headroom compared to one without. That said, there are plenty of Mavs for resale, Carmax, some Ford dealers, etc and you should be able to wrangle the family down to their lot and try it out. Except for a vibration in the dash over rough surfaces, the 2.0EB Mav, pictured in my driveway, works for me.

the die is cast for the OP but for those worried, I'm 6'1", test drove an Escape. then a couple Bronco Sports as it's as close to the Maverick as you can get on this planet.
due diligence vs regret.

Backless ones, yeah. Not latched down, but they sit up higher to get the belt positioning right so they wouldn't be choked out in an accident.

The room inside a (modern) fullsize crewcab is insane.
Truth.

Plus the FE of the Powerboost F150 is really not that much worse than the Mav. Dunno about the Cheby, I would never drive one. 🤠
😄. I hear ya. Coming from a lifetime of German cars, I didn't have any brand loyalty. This new 3.0L engine gets basically equivalent FE to the EcoBoost Maverick. And here in CA Diesel #2 is the same price as 87 at my local right now. It'll be cheaper than regular gas in the summer, and on par with or slightly more than 91 in the winter.

Gotta pay to play, unfortunately. No denying it was a big jump up, budget-wise. Just hoping for a solid, long term relationship.

CA is the same--always thought those are Federal guidelines? Either way, I'd much rather err on the side of caution on this particular issue.

We all have our crosses...

Just wondering why your 6 & 7 year Olds are still in booster seats? 🤔😊
Just for seatbelt positioning, with maybe a sprinkling of "they're growing up too fast for my wife's liking."

Straight up in the trenches. Stay strong!

This was a major part of the decision as well.

(y). Our other vehicle is a VW Atlas, equipped with captain's chairs to try to cut down on the grab-assery. We use that (plus roof box, if needed) any time we are all going and our dogs are coming too. But with the truck (either one) being more fuel efficient than the Atlas, there are summer trips to Tahoe, camping, scouts, mountain biking, etc. all of which we would have wanted to use the Maverick for. If it was only for use as a runabout, we prob would have made it work.

The 6 year old is the same height as his brother and 20 more lbs of brick wall. He definitely has 6'7" written all over him. He's also a lefty, so trying to teach him to play 1B and hit from both sides 😆.
