Greetings Maverick owners, currently undecided but looking at a 2025 Maverick XLT, AWD Lux/tow/bap packages. I drive 3 miles to work and come home for lunch daily so 12 miles total. I'm 60 so can retire in 2 years. I average about 8k miles per year last 5 years. I think the hybrid would suite me the best but none close are available in the color and options I want. There is 2 trucks with the boosted 2.0. I have test driven one of our work trucks that had the boosted 2.0 and was pretty pleased with the acceleration. I really do not want to wait 4 months to build one as by then the 2026 should almost be available. Any words of wisdom as I go into the dealer Monday to either buy an existing XLT or order one. Also tried to figure out what an extended warranty would cost but on granger no option for Florida. I will be downsizing from a 2019 F150 Supercrew with low miles (60K) pretty much way more truck than I need and at 18MPG I want something more as I often drive 240 miles round trip to visit my kids and the wife and I want to start traveling a bit more. lol Thanks in advance!

I 2nd what dalola said. But to put in consideration, I see the hybrid still has the deep sleep issues as previous models. If you go that route you'd have to trickle charge it whichever way suites you, if you dont drive it regularly. Acceleration is night and day between hybrid and ecoboost, I'd recommend you test drive the hybrid as well. For me it was a no brainer and got an ecoboost, but for some the gas savings is a better deal. Either one gets better MPGs than an F150 but definitely not as comfortable for long road trips, not to say its uncomfortable but them F150's are nice. It doesn't seem like you're in a particular rush to get it, I'd say order the exact one you want, dealers normally carry XLs Tremors and Lobos, not a whole lot of XLTs and Lariats in comparison.

My own personal take: with the options you want I'd even consider adding FX4 if you go with the ecoboost. A true jack of all trades. This is exactly what I have and im averaging almost 27mpg mixed driving.

I have had both models: I had a 2024 Hybrid and just recently traded for a 2025 Ecoboost. I had no real problems with the Hybrid although it did go in to sleep mode once during a winter cold snap. I did drive it almost every day. I bought the 2025 because I found that I needed the 4000 lb tow package. I could have waited to get a Hybrid with AWD and tow package but my dealer had 4 Ecoboosts on the lot. To tell the truth, I didn't really love the Hybrid other than the gas milage. Both are great trucks so I would buy whichever you like the most

I would highly advise get the 4k package whether you go hybrid or ecoboost that decision is up to you. With only 8000 miles per year I don't see the hybrid offering much while your working. Once retired if highway mileage again not that much savings and not driving daily you may have issues with sleep mode. Again it's something that you will have to decide.

The 4k package offers so much down the road especially if you start traveling. Even if you don't pull a trailer the extra cooling will help longevity issues. Also if you don't get it if you decide or your significant other decides to camp you will be looking for another vehicle with that ability.

Best of luck with what you decide and good luck getting what you want/need on your Maverick. You also might consider traveling to get what you want. Hope you truly enjoy your retirement.

FWIW, as a fellow "over 60" driver, I strongly recommend you purchase the one with the full $795 CP360 option. At 68, I still follow a lifetime of safety habits, like manually checking mirrors and blind spots. But I love features like rear cross traffic alert, etc.

Just adding my penny's worth to the discussion.

As for the Ecoboost vs Hybrid thing - I vote neither. Alas, there is no BEV small truck yet. My 2022 Ecoboost has been great to drive and has delivered 28.6 MPG in rural mountainous driving, over 32,000 miles. And the little devil really hauls when needed.

The 2025 Ecoboost has been improved in multiple ways, so ugly schnoz aside, I would go with the 2025 over an earlier model - just for long term reliability. Ford was on a tear to reduce warranty costs by improving quality. The 2025 is one of the results of that push. There was a news article just this morning with one Ford exec saying they're already seeing quantitative quality improvements with the 2025 models in early release.

Not true for ours, going on 2 years of notifications and never not started, original battery.

You have a link to the article? I love to read these sort of things.

You might want to test drive a hybrid to help answer the question: "Which makes me happier, the extra acceleration or 10 more mpg?"

With either version, I think you'll enjoy the improved gas mileage, ease of parking, etc. compared to the F-150. Good luck!

Think about getting a Maverick Lariat. Drive is considerably better than the XLT because of the better noise canceling windshield. Also, don’t sell the hybrid short and then kick yourself years later for not waiting 4 months from what you really want.

I think that as long as you are thinking of the Maverick as a car with a optional mini truck bed, and not thinking tow rig that either the hybrid or eco are fine. My concern would be largely short miles trips are hard on oil. So I would just plan on shorter miles oil change routine. Other than that there are some concerns with both the hybrid and eco. Some of the eco concerns are being addressed with the 2025 update, but if you live in CARB state they are introducing what will likely be more problems. Any time there are significant engineering changes I always expect the next couple of years to be shakeout years. We don't know what we don't know yet with the Eco engine changes. I would say just pick the one you are most comfortable with and start planning those trips!

Right now if you place an order they are scheduling for end of August builds. Just as a yard stick. Constrained items for orders this last update are engine block heaters, AWD Hybrids, black out package and Tremor. It was an odd combo this time that Ford says are constrained. There are also constraints on the 50 states package which is the gas particulate filter. So if you are not in a CARB state then don't order that package.

Best of luck in your decision process.

It's a lottery, some win and some lose. Do you drive it often or does it sit a lot of the time? I only stated it as a consideration since OP will be retiring in a few years, and based on people I know that have retired don't drive daily like people that drive to work. But congratulations on the surviving battery, I see way too many threads on here concerning the issue.

Being a relatively low mileage driver, does the economy of the hybrid add up to much?
Best of luck with such a good problem to have.
