I’m not on Cobb
, but tuned with Livernois for the past 75k miles. Lots of off road and towing. Recently towed a 12’ enclosed with. Decent amount of weight not max in 103 degree heat through the mountains. Trans temp stayed around 200 and everything seemed to stay in a good spot. Was running tow tune and was peaking around 19psi up some long 5-6 percent grades

What was the cost, and are you able to swap tunes to road use back to tow or off road. I'm looking for a good tune for my Tremor.

I’m ready to pull the trigger, but I have a couple questions I’m hoping someone can help me with.

1) can I switch between 93 & 87 assuming I reflash (if that’s the right word) appropriately?

2) is there any real difference between the Accessport sold on the Cobb site and the one sold on the Panda Motorworks site that is a Panda tuned Cobb Accessport?

Thank you for any help!

I believe it was $650
Now yes I can swap tunes incredibly easy. Few minutes to flash.

I have a 87-93 octane tow tune. So I’m not stuck with any specific octane for towing. I also have a 87-93 performance tune, 93 performance, and a e30 tune.
I mainly run the flex octane tunes cause then I never get stuck reflashing during my travels.
Still after many miles it is by far the best bang for the buck thing I’ve ever done. Literally every vehicle I buy gets tuned by them right away. I’ll doesn’t even dry in the paper and it’s tuned. My wife is not a gear head but can’t stand driving her 2.0 edge without it tuned. It’s just the drivability of them.

1- yes you can flash back and forth for different octanes and purposes you use the truck for.
Or use the flex tune option like I have.
2- The access port is the same unit no matter who you buy it from. Panda then offer tunes on top of the Cobb tunes. Cobb tunes are not that great.

Now keep in mind the Cobb unit is different than Livernois. Livernois has the handheld made specifically for them because the Cobb unit was not in depth enough to do certain things they wanted. Can’t find the thread but it on the focus rs forum discussion with Randy the old head tuner for montune USA.
For those reason and the seemingly close relationship Livernois has with some of the ford performance stuff makes me always go to them.

What is the reason for those tunes not being great? Is it just tunes for the ecoboost falling under that category or is it because it's more well known for Subaru tunes or is it another reason?

The Cobb tunes are just over the counter tunes. Very mild. Not well refined. Some of it according to Randy was the software Cobb uses requiring data logging of the parameters they can change to get them closer.
I would either use Livernois which is my preferred. But if I had a Cobb I would use Randy Robles at tunewerks. Man is incredibly good and truthful. Takes the lms approach which I like. The tune must be reliable or it’s not worth doing. What good is fast if it doesn’t last.

Ford Maverick COBB TUning Accessport for 2.0L Maverick!!! Image 7-6-25 at 9.10 PM

Am I crazy, or is the 2023 Maverick 2.0 listed by Ford as having 250 hp? It seems kind of underwhelming to see that the Cobb tune only raises what should be a stock 250 hp to 253.8 hp.
(Yes, I see that the stock hp in the test was 226.7, but isn't that low??)

Ford's 250 HP is not at the wheels.

To me, correct me if I am wrong, it sounds as if Livernois puts more development and such into the Ecoboost tunes it offers. Being honest, I think Cobb more for Subaru than anything. I ran 93 octane Cobb tune on a WRX and I have my thoughts on it.

Cobb started with Subaru and still has the most knowledge & resources there. They were active here on MTC back in 2023 when they first released tunes for the Maverick.

The Ford Performance mycalibrator is made by Livernois. However, the MyCal has certain preloaded tunes and that's all you get. If it's installed by a Ford dealership (more on that below *), you get the factory powertrain warranty on a vehicle tuned in such a way. Livernois has never been active on this forum.

Currently Ford doesn't offer a factory performance tune for the Maverick ecoboost. They don't have one for the current 2.0 that I'm aware of. They had it for the Focus ST, and they still offer them for the Ranger, Bronco, Explorer and Mustang 2.3, as well as the 2.7, 3.0 and 3.5 in most vehicles.

*what I find dumb about this is that all they do is connect it to the obd2 port, make sure the battery is sufficiently charged, and then push a button on a screen to install the MyCal and select a map. It's exactly the same as an end-user doing it... or installing a Livernois device, or a Cobb AP. And yet some dealerships charge several hundred to install it.
