Check Engine Light

Anyone know of a simple way to reset the check engine light without having to go to the dealer? Had a recent issue when trying to start the truck after sitting for 30 minutes. Battery didn’t show signs of failure just greeted with warning lights, pull over prompts, etc. Disconnecting and reconnecting battery didn’t help. Finally jumped it from battery pack, and reset the BMS. No other issues next day except the engine light.

Engine light went off on its own. I did read that after resetting the BMS the truck needs to sit locked for 8 hours which I'm pretty sure I did, but when I started it up this morning to drive to an appointment, the engine light was still on which prompted my post. I was at my appointment for maybe 40 minutes and headed off to another one where I was parked for another 30 minutes. Went out to my truck, started it up and no engine light. Another Maverick mystery. I thought about deleting my post, but on second thought figured others might find some solutions that didn't end so easily for me. Thanks to everyone who responded.

The only way that I know of to reset the light is with an OBDII scanner or a laptop with the proper software installed. The light "may" reset itself in 50 re-starts if no faults are detected.
I've been retired and out of the repair biz for 10 years so take this info FWIW.

Autozone or Advance, maybe others.

Don't tell them initially you are only wanting the reset.
Let them get code, have them reset, and then explain what they think you need to buy.
Mention you'll need to mull it over if they even sell whatever it is.
Just for educational purposes.

Then again maybe they'll honestly say it was fleeting error and reset was all that was needed.

Speaking of resets.
Did you actually have a full battery when you did the BMS reset?

Besides telling the system "here is a new battery" and that age is used in calculations, it also says "here's what a full charge looks like, now do your charging up to 70% of that".
If you didn't have a full charge - you can see the issue that will quickly develop from that, say if you were already at a 55% charge.
70% of 55% would be 38.5% overall if that bad situation existed.

I've had one similar to this for about 20 years. Bought it when I had a Toyota that threw a 442 code whenever the fuel level dropped below 1/2 tank.

Thanks for the response. As it happens, the light went off on it's own, but I will reply to your post for the sake of information.
The battery was not at full charge when I reset the BMS. I trickle charged the battery overnight, but the engine light still appeared.
I believe what happened is that I didn't close the driver's door completely and that depleted the battery to the point that it gave of all those warnings and refused to start.

Agree. I think I have one somewhere. As it turned out, the engine light went off on its own about two hours after I posted my issue. No clue why, although I believe I may have not completely shut the driver's door when I went for a walk at our local nature center. Appreciate the feedback.

Hmmm, sure seems like there is a light timeout for exactly that scenario.
And the lower the battery already I wouldn't be surprised the less the timeout.
Even if light switch left on accidentally.
Might still be good to see what that old code was if saved as prior just not setting the MIL.
