For those folks who have done a clear/tinted ceramic windshield- How much does it reduce the interior temps ?

Seems like a legit upgrade- Thx

Also interested in this. Was thinking of getting the front windshield done in 85% ceramic tint just for the heat reduction.

I have 50% Xpel ceramic on my mustang and 70% Xpel ceramic on my maverick. I cannot tell you just how much in degree difference, but it is noticeable. I will say the best part is it seems to help eye fatigue in sunny conditions as well. I have found myself not wearing my sun glasses as much. This may be just a me thing, but it is my experience.

That said, I have zero change in visibility at night. I was a little concerned about this.

Nice - What's the difference in percentage if it's clear ? Price difference ?

I did all windows, except sunroof, and was surprised that make a SUBSTANTIAL difference in heat inside the truck - if I vent my roof, I can hop in right away and open rear slider and just start driving - with my Alto blue, was very hot before, not as bad afterwards - probably the best upgrade I have done with my truck, imho...

I do not think they make a completely clear film. The only difference between the 70% and 50% tint is...well... just the darkness, so if you are buying top of the line (ceramic) the price is the same no matter the percentage.

This was my experience with my installer, experiences may varry.

I know that’s a Suntek carbon film. That seems like a good deal compared to where I live. My local Xpel shop charges $500 for windshields.

Carbon is like a mid grade film type.

Metallized < Carbon < Ceramic

In Suntek, CXP has better heat rejection than their standard Carbon film but ceramic will still be rated higher. My Xpel place only does ceramic on windshields but still a steep price jump.

Its [current year] and im still surprised that people somehow think that darker=cooler.

it fucking doesnt.

the darkness of the tint you choose selects only that property - how dark is it.

idiots choose dark tint - and some also dark tint their windshields (sometimes concerningly).

this is bad because it really fucks up your nighttime visibility. creates nasty reflections inside.

it also increases your chance to talk to a cop.

The material the tint is made of controls how much heat comes in.

Ceramic rejects the most heat and is the most expensive.

Carbon rejects less heat and is cheaper.

Metallic rejects less heat and is cheapest.

If you live in a hotter climate then ceramic is a must.

Id recommend doing what I did - 15% ceramic on driver/passenger front windows and clear ceramic on the windshield (or the clearest ceramic they have).

Most tint companys have top shops they recommend - i have Lumar F1 Pinnacle on my truck - and my local shop is listed as a top shop on the Lumar site.

I did 15% on my two front windows (which essentially makes them the same darkness as the rear windows).

Im getting the windshield done in whatever their clearest tint is - because I like my visibility.

I'm looking to do the windshield for heat rejection - Need a legal percentage, not looking for darkness just heat control.

I put a ceramic tint on my Fusion Hybrid, and it was a massive difference in heat. What I found amazing was that it was cooler to have the driver's window CLOSED than open if the sun was on that side, even with the reduction in airflow and on cooler days (not using the AC, obviously). I plan to put a similar tint on my Maverick, especially because those Lariat seats (the faux leather) get painfully hot fairly quickly.

As for the mention above out legality, every state is different -- you can just Google the limits. I'll probably go slightly below the limit here in Maryland with the Maverick for the driver and passenger windows. The Fusion was at the limit and just a tad too translucent, but I can tint the rear window and rear cab windows as dark as I want with a truck per MD law.

Good info. Already got a massive chip/crack on the Acoustic glass but fixed same day. What brand do u recommend ? Local shop said the legal carbon is only good for 40 percent heat reduction -
