2023 Atlas Blue Mav with 30% 3M Film Windshield tint..mind you it looks REALLY dark, because it is inside with the light shinning on it, and the sides are limo tint....but in the natural light you can see it is tinted but not this dark

The film is on the inside surface. Are you going to scrape inside the car?

It is one of the first upgrades I make to any car. If it were more affordable I'd do ceramic all around as it makes a massive difference.

I have reflectix for the windows and a sunscreen for the windshield as well. With the hybrid DC scroll motor for the AC I can keep the cabin ice cold in the summer while barely running the ICE engine at all.

I had my windshield done with 70% ceramic along with all the other windows (20% on the front and 40% over the factory dyed back areas) within a couple days of taking ownership in November 2023 so it was hard to gauge how big of a difference it really made initially. After driving my dad's Maverick the following summer, it was 100% worth having done. Makes a massive difference. The dash puts out some serious heat. It is really nice not messing with a stupid sunshade anymore either.

In La cannot be stopped for illegal window film only fined after a moving violation.
but heavily dependent on state.

I was in Iowa for grad school but still had my Las Vegas desert tinting on my Crown Victoria.

The highway patrolling turned around on the freeway to give me a fixit ticket!

I have ceramic on all 4 of my side windows and it makes a huge difference with the heat. I’ve wanted to do the windshield too, but I’ve had to replace my windshield on 3 different vehicles because of a rock hitting them. That has made me hesitate putting ceramic on my windshield. My luck is I would get it done and two months later, wham, another rock.

ok, i knew i had seen the local shop installing a film on the outside. it was a hydrophobic, protective window film. supposed to help with keeping frost off also, but can be "gently" scraped with a plastic scraper in winter. not sure how gentle scraping ice is though !

For those folks who have done a clear/tinted ceramic windshield- How much does it reduce the interior temps ?

Seems like a legit upgrade- Thx
I live in the Georgia and the sumer sun is HOT. I installed ceramic film on the windshield and it made a Hugh difference in the heat transfer from outside to the interior. I also installed it on the two side front windows.

Yeah, I know windshield PPF exists, but it wasn’t the topic of discussion.

I also have my doubts about how that PPF will hold up. To justify the cost, you’d probably have to live with some sparkles and scratches and divots in it until it makes sense to replace it… which is the same thing you’d do with an unprotected windshield anyway. Sure, the film is much cheaper than a windshield, but replace the film more often, and the cost benefit erodes…
