I've noticed the clear coat for these wheels is very soft and very prone to superficial scratches. They get scratched even when drying with a microfiber towel. On the plus side the CC is so soft just a once over with McGuiers low cut compound does the trick.

So.....thinking of doing some sort of ceramic coating on them. Anyone do this already and if so which product did you use?

I have used the Adams Graghene/Ceramic coating and have no problems with their products. Not cheap but lasts a long time. they make a graphene detail spray that lasts quite a while and is easy to apply.
They have a website with videos on application. adamscoating dot com (IIRC)
also, they looking on YouTube for "Pan the organizer" lots of good videos on everything detailing. He compares all the brands and equiptment needed for detailing.
same for DIYdetail on youtube.

I just put 10H Ceramic/Graphene coating on my Mach-E wheels to protect the finish and give it a super glossy shine. Very Happy with the results and the added protection. The red pin striping went on after the Coating.

Prolly ceramic coat them before winter. Wasn't planning to but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

I've also used Adam's spray ceramic on everything, and like it a lot.

Have ceramic coated wheels for years -- if you've never done it you don't know what you are missing. Especially coating the barrels on wheels that they are visible. Use a good product and the brake dust and dirt practically fall off, if they even stick at all! I've had the Opti-Coat products for a long time but there are a lot of good products out there!

I clean them with a small piece of clay bar (then throw it away), and use the turtle wax siO2 w/graphene. Buff with a cheap microfiber and toss it too. Very happy with the results. This is my first set of black wheels. Yes I agree they are soft and scratch easily.

Looks good. Couple suggestions: I like to do the barrels on wheels like those that you can see them. Makes a nice difference that sets them apart and makes them look super clean. I also like to paint my stick on weights on black wheels. Mask with blue tape and a quick brush with some black Rust-Oleum and they disappear. A few minutes of work when you have the wheels off that also makes a nice difference.

Ok, someone had to ask. What part is the "barrel" on the wheel?

Thanks for that. I was miffed that they did not use black weights from the factory. I worked at MB and they had black weights.

Behind the spokes. The area that rarely gets clean. :ROFLMAO:
Sorry- thought it was common terminology. The inside of the wheel.
Well, I was guessing that but just was not sure. This is an area I always wash (as reachable) when I wash the vehicle. I do make it a routine to detail the complete area when I rotate the tires. The only car we currently have that it shows much on though is a 2005 Miata with stock 16 inch wheels. Still waitin' on the Maverick. Maybe soon now. I guess it will show on the 18 inch wheels. Usually, I have found this area not to be finished or anything expected to be seen. May be different on the new wheels.
