My Buick Encore was the same way.
The wipers will not raise, when they are in the parked position with the hood closed.
Some "brilliant" engineering design.
every thing with vehicles these days seems to be hostile engineering designed to make things expensive and hard to work on. It's a terrible practice.

Costco has one for half the price. Might be getting that tomorrow.

How is it 'these days' when it's been like this decades on varies vehicle?

Wow, same here too. Not looking forward to all the snow that is going to get in that big ‘crevice’ to clean out so the wipers work.
I agree Meeka. This is the first design feature since I got the truck in June that I've thought was super dumb. Maybe this area was designed in Mexico. I also noted that some aren't afraid to manually pull/push the wipers so they clear the hood and can be lifted up. For us in snow land, this is crucial for when you're scraping snow and ice off the windshield.
ABTremor suggested pool noodles in the recess/crevice area which I get but if it's blocked with snow and a noodle won't it interfere with the defroster operation?

What else are you looking for? Ford has an official procedure that is posted on the first page of this thread, and the people who aren't "afraid" to rotate the wipers manually haven't had any ill effects over the years, judging by the multiple threads on this (also linked on the first page here). It might be different from your previous/other vehicle, but it's really not complicated.

Not looking for anything but thanks for your 2 cents. I saw the official Ford how-to for the wipers, then the unofficial how-to's that say force them, even though one poster said Ford says not to. Doing it once a year changing blades is no big deal for you but is a big deal if they're frozen to your windshield 20 times a month. My other concern, which you missed, was the accumulation of snow and ice in that crevice below the wipers. It's too narrow to get the snow brush in to get the snow out of that area. If it gets blocked it can interfere with the defroster operation. Having to raise the hood to clear out that area is not good design, hence my speculation that the area was designed by someone who doesn't know snow.

My "two cents" was genuinely trying to figure out what you're looking for, because it seems you're aware of what people with Mavericks in snow country have figured out, but are just ranting a belabored point now. Fair enough.

Didn't miss your other concern, it's just that there are solutions for that, too. Good luck.

You can't be serious?

Being a product of the mid-fifties, my first vehicular memories were there were no domestic wipers that would flip up, just lift a few inches. Most foreign cars did and I guess the idea was adopted by the big three (just like the high beam headlight button being moved from the floor to the steering column). Even when GM introduced their "hidden" wipers in the late sixties, US vehicle wipers did not flip up and snow did get in there too. I don't really remember when the domestics started with the flip up wipers, my '83 Mustang's do not flip up, my '01 Ranger's did. Just get used to what you have and live with it. If you should flip them up in the service position, remember to put them down before you power up to prevent paint damage to your hood. Yes, it would have been nice if Ford did go with the industry on this, but it is what it is.
