I have a 12 ft. canoe I want to carry on my new 2024 Maverick. I know I can use the different tailgate positions or even an after market bed extender but wondered if anyone had a better suggestion for a rack system or something better from their experience? Tks.

The lumber or ladder rack that you see in the pic of my maverick has removable cross bars that can haul our 11 foot Hobie kayaks. You can often see these racks on Craigslist or Marketplace, and have one shortened to fit your bed. Another option is the single bar rack by the cab, and a pool nurdle on the tailgate. IMHO, there is no safe way to haul your canoe with the nose in the front of the bed....8' of extension is too much. At that point, a harbor freight trailer with an extended tongue would be better. Two cent opinion, don't mind a nickle in change.... :)

Look at some of the links to kayak racks. I have a post that explains this setup. I built two 14 1/2 foot kayaks and have a 14 1/2 foot canoe. I usually take just two boats on this set up, but I have had two kayaks with a carbon fiber canoe (22 pounds) in between. This pic shows the kayak in front and the canoe barely visible on the other side. A 12 foot canoe could sit farther forward. This is a bit extreme (extending so far out back) but balanced. The nice thing about this rack is that it works great with tonneau cover.

I made an aluminum stand for my bed, now I just need a roof rack.

What's the brand and source of your rack? I've been shopping and everything I find that fits the T-Track is really expensive.

Not cheap but works great. I used:

Elevate TS Rails TRX-1118414
Elevate CS Rack TRX-1118513
BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover (trifold)

Make sure the rack you choose works with your Tonneau Cover. This set up does for the Maverick. I like the Elevate system too because with removing 8 nuts you can remove the rack and store it to use the bed for hauling compost or whatever. The rack height also has 3 settings but I pretty much keep it on what you see for all my boats.

The Elevate Rack is so versatile. You've made great use of it here. Fantastic rig!

I just screwed together a few pieces of construction lumber and dropped it into the divider slots.
Very ingenuitive! What cross bars are you rocking on the roof?

I installed a Thule square bar rack system. It would haul a canoe just fine.

16 foot old town guide -- a heavy canoe, two kayaks, lumber, skis. I haul them all.
