Can Yakima Roof Racks be stolen easily?

Planning to buy the Yakima Roof Racks and was wondering how safe those are and how difficult it is to steal them. thank you in advance!

I've been using Yakima racks for 25 years or so. Never had one stolen. That said, I think that someone with decent skills and a little time could take one. Probably true of most racks, though.

Sometimes it's easier to steal stuff attached to the rack by stealing the rack along with it...

Not really. But I actually think that's a benefit. I'd rather have the rack be the weak link, not the truck--because fixing 4 crowbarred door edges would cost WAY more than the rack.

They have keyed locking mechanism for each end of the individual roof racks that can be purchased separately . locks the roof racks to the roof .

The only safe rack is the one in your garage with the door closed.
