Can Pre Collision Warning be turned off

So my pre collision warning light came on my xlt and scared me too deathdidn’t even know it was on a xlt! Anyway to turn it off.yes,i know im crazy to do it

I had it come on a couple times but not recently. I never encountered the emergency braking come on though. Great question you have, but in my case I want to make sure it's on. These safety features are a big reason I bought a new car.

yes, you can toggle through the steering wheel buttons to do it.
but when you turn off the key it will not stay off.
funny though, if you turn off BLIS, it will stay off.
i had to disable the collision assist to use my maverick in a Porsche sponsored HPDE event.

reminds me of my brother who complained about the lane keep alarm in his daughters car. He said that it annoyed him because it was always going off when he drove her vehicle.

I suggested that if it was always going off when he drove her vehicle maybe he needed it. As it seemed that he wasn't staying in his lane.

How do you keep the active braking set off by default?
I hate these "safety" features, far more likely to cause an accident than prevent one.
The alert went off and scared the bajeezus out of me and I was doing 40mph and no where near the next car who was turning and about to exit the lane.
Frustrating to have to do it every time you turn the car on.

The sensitivity sticks though.
Change that to Low.

And the braking effect you probably didn't see - it's basically to lessen the impact once it's determined you are not doing anything and it's too late.

Wife in active cruise had vehicle hard brake and right turn in front of her with 65 mph or faster in lane to her left. She braked and collision braking happened pretty much same time. Steering was locked for straight Maverick stopped just short of where car making right turn WAS (it had completed turn couple seconds before). Yes have increased cruise following distance but feel certain truck would have stopped one foot short of where car was. Or wife did it.
