Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with this system. It seems to me that mine is not working. I have the system set to high and have been in situations where I believe I should have received a warning. I have even tried , safely, to wait to the last second to brake and nothing happens. The warning light that the system is not working is not on. The adaptive cruise control works perfectly. I am used to me Subaru where you are always getting warnings. My dealer has no immediate answers. Thanks for any suggestions.

Had a Subaru before the Maverick. That damned car was always crying wolf about something. After a while, you start tuning it out and it's a major reason I wanted to sell it.

I’ve had my Maverick for over 2 years and I’m still really not sure what to make of the pre-collision assist. Mine has went off twice for what seemed like no reason at all, but then when I had a few close calls it did nothing. My wife’s Forester on the other hand beeps at everything and anything.

Experiencing the same thing. It is worrisome since it worked so overly well non the Subby.

Don't want to suggest tailing - but mine has occurred from someone cutting in front of me to immediately turn right, required some brake press on the cut, but not the turn.
Which is probably why I got it.

Now they weren't that close and turned fast so never so close to hit them, actually at time of alert they were mainly sideways into turn and off the street anyway, but alert still went off.

Now that's a tad of a heart rate increase since nothing seemed a problem.

Anyway, want to confirm within the limits.

PRE-COLLISION ASSIST LIMITATIONS

Pre-collision assist depends on the detection ability of its camera and sensors. Any obstructions or damage to these areas can limit detection or prevent the system from functioning. See Locating the Pre-Collision Assist Sensors.
The system is active at 3 mph (5 km/h) and above.
Note: Brake support and automatic emergency braking are active at speeds up to 75 mph (120 km/h). If your vehicle has a radar sensor included with adaptive cruise control, then brake support and automatic emergency braking are active up to the maximum speed of the vehicle.
Pedestrian Detection Limitations
Pedestrian detection is active at speeds up to 50 mph (80 km/h).
Pedestrian detection operates optimally when detected hazards are clearly identifiable. System performance may reduce in situations where pedestrians are running, partly obscured, have a complex background, or cannot be distinguished from a group.

I no longer rely on mine. I can be doing 70 and someone jumps in front of me and nothing. I can be doing 25 and someone slows down to turn and it goes off. It obviously does not work like it is suppose to, so I assume it never will. I have all my driver assist crap turned down as much as possible. I may be 70, but I still know how to drive. Not impressed with any Ford engineer that designed this software.

Me: '24 Lariat hybrid - Same with me. I have it set at the most sensitive and if/when it goes off it seems too late. And unpredictable. I don't rely on it. [I wish there was a way to turn it into a front parking sensor. Now that would be useful.]

Oh, and the roadway graphic on the dash that turns from green to yellow to red is useless. Why would a driver look down to look at it when s/he is crashing into the vehicle ahead?

My 2016 GMC Canyon had a similar system, useless dash graphic and all, but it seemed to sense an impending situation more predictably.

After driving for 58 years, I will continue to be the brains for my vehicle. That being said, in my RAV4, I came over a hill and the car in front of me did a hard brake to make a quick right turn. (this is Mississippi, so no turn signal!) The RAV warning and brakes hit the same time I did. It relinquished control to me immediately. To the OP, don't play chicken with the automatic system, you might not get the result you are looking for.

My '22 Lariat works fine, screen beeps and flashes red warning anytime I get too close to the car in front of me.

24 EB XLT with 7k miles has warned me 3 times. I believe all 3 situations were the same.
I typicall leave a lot of space b/t myself and the vehicle in front of me. In the three situations, the vehical up ahead was turning left. I could see that traffic would clear for them to perform their left turn, so I continued to drive without braking, knowing that they would be out of the way before I got to them. So my foot was still slightly on the gas, not on the brake and the warning system activated the red screen.

Mine went off once, as traffic in front of me slowed. Scared the hell out of me. Yesterday, in the rain, I almost got hit head on when a vehicle (another Mav!!!) tried to turn in front of me. He braked at the last second, I swerved and cussed, missed by about a foot. It's all good. But not a peep from the system.

The only word I have for the system is, inconsistent. It seems to work when there is no need for it, and doesn't when it should. I can think of one time in nearly three years of owning this truck that the collision warning was appropriate, when a vehicle on a side street to my right attempted to make a left turn in front of me. Many phantom alerts, when vehicles are well out in front of me, or when a vehicle in the a turn lane beside me is skirting the white line.

Mine has alerted but no brakes in a situation where I was rapidly approaching a vehicle and pulling out to pass, probably too close if I wasn’t already swerving out. It’s something I don’t think I could intentionally duplicate to test the system. Perhaps we need to build a cardboard wall to really test it. I’m not sure it’s something I can count on.
