I searched the threads and couldn’t find the answer.

Can a constraint item be added to an existing unscheduled order?

Was told Ford will not let constraint item be added.
Thanks

Yes, but not like the lux package. You should be able to add bed accessories and mud guards and stuff like that.

I can tell ya it is possible to add a "bed tray", which is hella constrained. Happened to me. Still salty about it. Haha.

Although its not a constraint item but I recently decided to add the moonroof onto my order. Asked my sales person about that and she said OK, let me ask the manager. A little bit later she sent me an updated order sheet and MSRP.

At this point why would you want to make it harder for your order to get built?

Guarantee it doesn't get built in 2022 model year, resulting in a larger private offer amount and getting a 2023 with more of the wrinkles ironed out (and a better model year number if ever wanting to resell). At the cost of waiting longer for it of course. But if you belive the "rolled over 2022 will be priority", then may not need to wait as "long" as folks have been. They do need to start building 2023 model in October. No reason one of the trucks produced the first day can't be this person's.

I guess, but the constraints aren't going to improve for 2023, other than Ford eliminating them or putting them behind more expensive paywalls. So is the plan to force your order to 2023, then order a stripped model with no constraints? Otherwise you're really going to keep waiting. Best case scenario is you get your 2023 in late December or early January as it is, then add constraint items....

Correct. The plan many folks have is to force a 2023 by adding constraints to their 2022 now, then remove the constraints when they make their 2023 order. FordVideoGuy has helpfully reminded us a couple times that orders can go in August 2nd, but they aren't going to be even trying to schedule 2023 until the end of August range. So even if someone put in a bare no options XL order August 2nd (or conversely ordered a maxxed out Lariat), they could modify it 1,000 times before Ford will even be looking to pick what to build. Just get an order in.

Shoot, that’s one item I would not have added to my order in hindsight. Especially since its a constraint. Plenty of aftermarket solutions.

I got my build at the beginning of the year, it was one of the units affected by the factory SIBL screw up. That recall, combined with it being a late 2021 constraint delayed my delivery a couple months.

I guess, if you're cool not getting your 2023 until 2023
