One major difference after the software update is that there is a Plus sign + in the upper left that gives a downward close up view of the bumper for backing up close quarters. So you now have 2 view options.

🤔 I have not had the recall update done yet, here is the plus sign on my 2023 Maverick.
I do believe that it was a standard feature of the backup camera.

You may have not noticed it before. Now that the recall has been done you're looking a little more closely at the screen for any differences.

Took my 2024 XLT EcoBoost last week for the reverse camera recall. Made 10:00 appt, my wife dropped me off at 09:50 as we were going to do some shopping. Returned @ 13:00 to find my truck in the exact spot where I had parked that morning. I went to the service dept and asked if my truck was done, which I knew it wasn't as it had not been moved from where I parked it that morning. Got a stupid reply ask when I had dropped it off or had I brought it after hours. When I told the person who asked me that question, I asked him to ask the lady who checked my truck in earlier today. When she stated that I dropped the truck off at around 09:50 I asked why it was still where I parked. Then another guy spoke up with "well we have been busy" and the recall "takes a while to complete". Thats when I told him per the Ford web page it should take 1 or 1.5 hours to complete, but you would not know as it's still where I parked it 3 hours ago. I told the people in the service check in area I was going home and would be back before they closed to pick up my truck recall complete or not. When I returned someone who I supposed was the service manager asked me to have a seat in the waiting room and he would let me know when it was finished. About 17:00 he and another tech asked me to come out to my truck as there was a problem doing the update. Per these to mental giants they had tried to do the update only to have it fail about 1/2 done, and they had tried "several times only to get 1/2 done" then need to restart the update. The tech said this is the first time he's had this happen and he was going to contact Ford to see what to do as they might need to replace the unit. Received call the "part" was in and scheduled an appt to have this part replaced. Long story just to ask if anyone might know what part needs replaced as I was not told.
Thanks
I got the recall notice and (though I haven't had any issues) I took the letter to the dealer. There's no parts involved, it's just a software upgrade. Dealer said I could leave it for a day or have a guy stop at my house.
I had the appointment yesterday morning and it took about 35 minutes, he also checked the fluids and filters. Everything is fine.
My hybrid is much faster now. (Just joking)

Tech reported that the first try failed on my notes as well.
Second try worked no problems.

I have a 2023 XLT Hybrid and had the recall done yesterday and I am very happy with the results. The screen is so much brighter. My screen was so dim before the update, that I had to use a Garmin GPS because I couldn't read street names on the screen on bright days. The screen is still not the best it lacks contrast and resolution but it is now bright enough that I don't need the Garmin anymore.

Since folks have stated increased brightness as a benefit of the backup camera recall fix.
I have decided to download a light metering app on my cell phone and actually test it, before and after the recall is done. 😎
I will also try and figure out lag time between screen displays, before and after. 🧐

My camera software update was done 04/03 house call mobile service. Tech told me my CEL would be lit until I drove it. Drove it the night before 04/09 a road trip to Mt. Davis PA and it didn't clear. Cleared after a couple of hundred miles and start/stop cycles. Next morning to Backbone Mountain, then homeward bound, CEL came on *after* I got down to the Cheat River on US50 WB. No luck in Grafton, cruised on to Chenoweth Ford and a very helpful gent typed in my VIN and read me all the codes and when they recorded. very interesting stuff as it logged codes at both starts prior to getting to US50 (no CEL). It has (4) error codes now. P237F, U0164, U1012. I don't have the printout in front of me. I'm scheduling a service visit as soon as I can. This was also the worst MPG I've recorded since I bought the Mav. Other than a new 12V battery, have had no issues until now. Just reporting my personal experience with the camera software update.

It was my only beef! Glad it’s fixed with the backup recall.

In the many posts regarding this recall upgrade, which I'm sure I've missed some - I've not seen anyone that ONLY got the backup camera recall done, say they had CEL afterwards.

That's crazy they either thought it was a potential, or lied to you about it since they only got paid to do the upgrade and couldn't take more time for fixing an issue they caused.

Sounds like issues where it needs to see 2 instances of it happening to set the CEL, and maybe 2 without before it removes it.
But pending and prior codes should indeed still be logged.

i'm beginning to wonder if the quality of ownership depends on just who one's servicing dealer is. i'm dropping it off tonight, so we will see. At least they will clear the codes LOL!

i feel fortunate that Mobile Service came to my home and did it in 1.5 hr.
That’s true, I had my last recall via Mobile Service, did this one as well via Mobile Service. Took less than 30 mins to be completed.

Update on recall. Got call last week the "part" was in for my recall and made appt to have it done today @ 08:00. Took truck to service dept got checked in and was told they would call when it was ready. About 09:30 got call "all done", do you want us to have the truck bought to my house or will you come pick it up. Told them to bring it to my house, when I asked what part, they changed in order to do the recall was told it was only a "software" update no parts needed. When I told this tech I was told a part needed replaced due to being unable to do the update 2 weeks ago he acted like he did not know what I was talking about. Do not think I'll be having any other work performed at this dealer.

It seems that the 'service writer' at many dealers has the expectation that customers are all as ignorant as ... I won't say it... and they can lie to them with impunity.
I think someone over-scheduled and had to turn away customers with appointments that were not able to be serviced the same day.
It would be better IMO for them to just tell the customer what happened, and ask forgiveness. Perhaps a free car wash as compensation for the extra trip?
The airbag replacement recall took all day. Shop time allowed for task was ~2 hours. I got there on time and was told then they needed the car all day. That is NOT an appointment.
I do not know if that is standard procedure, but it should not be.
I could not do that job as I cannot lie with a straight face.

Okay, it's all about attitude and you're probably too nice, you can't start out that way. I used to have apartments and I learned from experience that, at first, you're a chump or an a$$hole. Later on you can mellow but you need respect.
