i know ford is taking their time on this recall. i know there is a stop sale. but shouldn't a open recall automatically stop sales the moment the recall was announced. in this case it was sept 13 2024. yet I was still able to get mine in oct. not complaining but just wondering.

I don't understand, either. Mine was built 9/26 and I got it on 10/28. I'm not aware of having any issues with my camera, either. It certainly hasn't frozen, and I've never caught it lagging.

I have noticed a couple times that it froze. Actually black screen for like 10 secs when i shifted into reverse.

The recall range was expanded in early November, that's why late production MY24 Mavericks (XL & XLT) were still available for sale for a while.

my guess the system doesn’t have enough RAM or a fast enough processor so they are try to compensate by optimizing the code. That is just my guess. Just like my old Magellan GPS. The things just don’t have enough horsepower under the hood to run the software

I totally agree with that. I do it and build my own computers. This system should have been a sync 3 or 4 no matter what. The escapes had it and are around the same price.

They were trying to cut costs, though I doubt sync 3 costs that much more. That is why the Lariats aren't in the recall. They have a faster system

The easiest thing to do would be to switch the system but ford would rather spend months to get a ps3 game on a ps1.

Cheaper to try to optimize the code than to replace hardware that will work better. I remember Pintos blowing up over a damn 10-cent part they left off. They made some dumb decisions sometimes. The most recent is the Focus automatic transmission. They knew they had a problem but released them anyway. The Focus is actually a really reliable car with a manual transmission in it. I still think Ford is better than GM or Dodge.

It is cheaper to have devs working on code yes. When it comes to hardware and man hours to do the swap. That would be more expensive. But how many sales are being lost do to the recall. If they just did the hw swap to the same system as lariat then they can go and sell the trucks collecting dust.

That is assuming that they have enough of the sync 3 systems to swap out and not interfere with what is needed on the assembly line.

You have a point there. What is in the lariat sync 3? With the 25s on 4 it should easier to have stock not going into new vehicles. They just need to figure out how to handle things. Hope they figure it out soon. Cause didn’t they say end q1. (Granted I am looking to do the swap myself if it’s easy. Maybe even do the cluster also.)

If that is the case, then Ford has problems.

I have a 24 Lariat and it is Sync 3. Even the software is better than the lower trims. I wasn't looking for a Lariat when i bought mine but I am glad I have the higher trim. There are just too many extra goodies that aren't on even the XLTs.
