Cactus Gray Tonneau Bed Cover

Opted to buy a soft tri fold cover that comes in any color that is black.
Black does a great job of heating up in the Arizona sun, so hot it's too hot to touch
Decided to paint the cover in a matching Cactus Grey color that is lighter and more reflective than black.
Found a pretty close match at Home Depot, see photo
Behr Egg Shell/Satin Exterior Acrylic Sage Grey 710F-4
Acrylic is a very durable coating on canvas, has shown no change in 6 months so far.

How do you keep the paint from cracking when you fold the cover? I thought acrylic paint dries hard

You don't even need to be in the desert. We rarely get temps over 95 in summer, but the covers get smoking hot to the touch, at least the hard folding ones sure do!

The cover I purchased is the Trifecta 2.0.
Acrylic paint is flexible on canvas, I have used it, also,
on canvas ground cloths (painted rugs) with good results.

It looks great. Such a custom look. I would not have guessed the paint would hold up on something flexible but clearly it has.

Now that I am thinking about it I have used spray paint that was for fabric or plastic and it looked good after 3 years after painting a bag.

yeah, i need more details. do you sand it at all for better bind? when it eventually peels, how easy is it to patch up. would it be insane to try this on a roll up?

Only prep was to wash the fabric.
Used a roller as that was the most convenient & I thought most uniform as I lack a spray outfit.
Hoping it doesn't peel.

Wow, looks great. I’ve been thinking of adding a bed cover to my cactus grey Maverick. That bed cover is pushing me closer to pulling the trigger on it. Wonder if that would work on a roll up.
