Heard what sounded like a card in a bicycle spoke in the front passenger wheel well while driving. The clicking slowed and became more rapid as I accordingly accelerated and decelerated. Checked when I got home and found this wear (pictured) on this cable, which is what must have been rubbing against the inner side of the rim. First of all - what is this cable? Also, anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it? Is there a way to secure this so it stops rubbing? Is this related to the tire pressure sensor? Because that also just mysteriously went out on all four tires. Not sure if related or not. Thanks all.

@Johnno this is posted in the Marketplace forum.
I would suggest @Administrator move it the Tech Wheels, Tires, Brakes forum for better exposure and more answers.

Otherwise @Darryl might be able to help you out.

Hope you're able to get it figured out!

Thanks! I definitely posted in the wrong forum, oops! Can't delete it but I marked as sold, so hopefully this removes it from everyone's feed. Much appreciated!

It’s the speed sensor cable . Did the same last month on mine. It got down to the copper and caused the dash to light up . Just covered it up in some hi voltage rubber tape and all good now. Put some zip ties on the mounts so it doesn’t happen again

The rubber bits circled in blue are supposed to be slotted into metal brackets to keep the wire from rubbing. The first bracket is circled in red.

EDIT: I see in your first pic that they were in the proper brackets but were still rubbing the tire? I'm not sure how that's happening. Do you have stock size tires?

Mine came loose from the brackets. I have stock wheels. Not sure if I ran over something. Now that you have had the same issue, chalk that up to bad design. I zipped tied all the rubber grommets so they won’t slip off

Right, because clearly if two people have had the same thing happen, it's a design issue. It couldn't be a manufacturing defect, installation issue or anything else.
