My plan exactly. I’m not looking forward to getting the letters off though because the adhesive is really strong.
Please keep us updated on how you got your letters off. I'm considering changing mine. I had ordered some matte black from Etsy from a listing saying that "all reflective", but the ones that I got aren't reflective and I didn't notice until after I had them on and the sun went down. But, I'm afraid of buggering up the surrounding paint trying to get them off so I want to learn from other's experience first.

easy. Just use a heat gun low heat and they will peel right off. Prob use anything plastic to give a little leverage.

overall low heat is your friend.

bought a trim remover kit from harbor freight to make dealing with these things a lot easier. contains several plastic wedges for this kind of stuff. They only like $7-$8 or so. I'm using them for other reasons but they do help.

If you’re looking for something that feels more chunky and solid, I got found these black plastic 3D ones on Amazon. They look OEM and have 3M tape that isn’t going anywhere.

Wow, I can see the difference even in the pics.
eh, after you did put the 3rd one on and noticed it you should have just removed them ASAP instead of continuing the rest of the letters. By now they're probably tougher to get off. If you use a heat gun just be sure that you don't overheat them else you run the risk of bubbling the paint underneath

I thought about removing the 3 I had applied but the optimist in me kept saying maybe it won’t be that noticeable. Wrong😢

I got mine from DiegosOutdoorGoods on Etsy based on a recommendation here. Could not have been happier. I ordered the Rainbow Lazer but in the comments I asked for the Black Reflective Holo (it wasn't an option for the Maverick but was for the Bronco sticker he sells). I got the Black Reflective Holo about a week later. They were a pain to get on perfectly straight but they look super good on an Area 51. Mostly blackish with a rainbow color shimmer during the day and can be seen from half a mile away at night (kind of a bright rainbow look).

On older trucks (not Mavericks), I have actually seen tailgate letters peeling from sun, etc. Of course, all letters from different sources won't do that. But I don't want to find out that the ones I ordered were the ones that did. So I'ma leave the tailgate as-is.
Same here. I think they look good, so I ordered a glossy black set of flat letters for my silver Maverick as soon as it was picked for production. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought the truck looks fine as is. I bought a cheap $20 set, and I don’t want to have to worry about them peeling or fading.

Would you post a picture please?

I had some less expensive Carbon Fiber letters on my ‘22 and there was no sign of fading or peeling after 18 months when I traded. That 3M adhesive tape is really strong.

I guess it's the color blindness in me, but I don't really see what the issue is? The "I" looks a little lighter but that could also be the sun reflection.
