We can disagree here. I’d have to see the results to become a believer.
87 octane and tune shouldn’t be used in the same sentence imo.
An optimized 87 tune is still better then the stock emission regulated parameter tuning and on top of it the trans tuning will make a difference over stock.

I think you underestimate how dumbed down factory engine and transmission tuning is for comfort, gas mileage and emissions.

First off, I’m not talking about trans tuning which sure can make a difference.

i was commenting on tuning a 2.0 for 87 octane. Like I said, makes no sense to me and I would like to see the proof. Tuning something on the ragged edge using 87 seems counterproductive.

You don’t tune on the ragged edge for 87 octane? Heck you don’t tune on the ragged edge for any octane. Then you would be one knock/detonation event from a boom.

Point is, any aftermarket tune on 87 is ragged edge in my opinion. There are higher octane fuels for a reason. Still waiting for proof otherwise.

Did you look at what I suggested? Also look at the Fusion, Bronco Sport and possibly call Brew City Boost.

I wanted to share that Brew City and I are working together on getting data logging done on their tunes. I have the first version loaded in the Mav and have been driving it for a few days now.

Loving it even with keeping the revs down. Low end is some much smoother and responsive.

First logs will be in their hands tonight or tomorrow. If all looks good then some more aggressive driving will occur and I will follow up on this thread.
You still running the BCB tune? Any issues?

I have been running it continuously and have had no issues. Took a long trip in 93 tow and got 32mpg. Running full performance again now and loving it.

Does anyone know what BCB is referring to with:
  • Many user-adjustable tune options
I think I've looked everywhere for a list of what is user adjustable, but I haven't found anything outside of what's also already specifically listed in the description (tire size adjust, for example).

Thanks!

You still running the BCB? Have you heard from them at all? I'm wondering if they will be available for revisions since they shut down.
