This one is kind of puzzling to me and the dealer said they couldn’t replicate it so thought I’d ask here.

I have about 8,800 miles on my Maverick, and noticed recently that when I brake from around 45 mph, I get some vibration noticeable in the steering wheel. What’s really strange to me is that at higher speeds and lower speeds the braking is smooth as butter. No noise or other issues than that very specific speed range. Around town or braking at highway speeds they are perfect. I also swear there are other times that it can be smooth at the 45 mph range but it’s pretty repeatable. I also feel like the harder I brake it seems to make it less noticeable.

I am on stock tires and wheels and brake components. My initial thought was rotor runout, but wouldn’t that be worse at higher speeds? Other thought was something related to wheel balance, where it is out of balance at that speed and the braking just accentuates it?

I was going to try to “rebed” the brakes and see if maybe there's just some pad deposits on the rotors but figured I’d see what people thought.

Thanks in advance!

Hey! I can take a closer look into your brake vibration concern. Can you send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location?

No change, it’s kind of a weird thing. Sometimes it brakes smooth, sometimes it doesn’t. Not sure if it’s just a characteristic of the tires interacting with the road surface at that specific speed? I had asked the dealer to look at it and they of course couldn’t duplicate the issue.

Go figure. All of my Ford Dealers say that too, even when there's clearly something wrong (lol).

But yeah this one is weird, I've noticed it for a while but yesterday I decided to dig a little and found your post which is literally exactly what I'm experiencing as well. Almost like a slightly warped rotor would behave for a second but it literally only happens when I brake from a certain speed range sometimes.
