This guy is a mechanical engineer and gear head. What he has to say regarding motor oils and other vehicle lubricants is well worth reading. Draw your own conclusions. I know from now on my Ecoboost will only be getting Quaker State 5W30 full synthetic to go along with motor craft filters.

Scroll past the intro. The guy is an engineer. It will seem "unsufferable" but then again I am an aviation mtx tech, so I read a lot of "unsufferable" daily in the tech manuals. Needless to say theres good information in there once you get past the intro part. He has tested a lot of different brands of motor oils. I think 290 to be exact. The ones you think are on top, really are not. Amsoil actually surprised my by its low rating. Jet turbine oils are held to a higher degree of quality for obvious reasons, but automotive oils do not have to meet those requirements, so a lot of them are just not that good. He gives a ranking score and the Quaker State 5W30 full synthetic comes in at 11. And for street use is according to him the best oil to use in your street vehicles. The oils above it going to #1 are racing lubricants that cost too much for a daily driver and do about the same job.
