I have a XLT and i am looking for some simple ides to reroute the cord so the hood will stay closed so I can remote start it

I used a 5 foot long cord and routed it through the engine bay and brought it out at the rear corner of the hood in front of the driver. There is an access to put the plug by the wiper arm without any interference and you don't need to go in front of the truck to plug in.
Can't remote start the vehicle while the engine block heater is plugged in.I have a XLT and i am looking for some simple ides to reroute the cord so the hood will stay closed so I can remote start it
Wouldn't that be a problem if there is snow frozen in there?
I’ve been remote starting mine with the block heater cord plugged in!Can't remote start the vehicle while the engine block heater is plugged in.
But I agree this feels like a total afterthought on Ford's end. The new Chevy Colorado the engine block heater has a little plug/cover on the MIC grill that is spring loaded so you pull it open and pop in the little charging cable/adapter that goes on the end of your extension cord.
No shit! I have tried multiple times and I get the red blinking and no start - is there really a sensor that it won't remote start with the hood open?I’ve been remote starting mine with the block heater cord plugged in!
I also ran a 5ft extension in the engine bay and ran it out to the front passenger side of the hood over the head light.
Possibly if really iced in place, my truck parks inside so I haven't had a problem yet.Wouldn't that be a problem if there is snow frozen in there?
Well - I know the next upgrade I'll be doing. This fellow re-routed his, it's a hybrid, but that might still be the right place to go.
Yes I’m thinking all remote starts factory or otherwise won’t work with the hood open. I didn’t want to unclip the factory cord and try to run it outside the hood, it was easier to use a short extension and place it just in front of the hood.No shit! EDIT - Do you think it matters hybrid v. EB?
I think the remote start procedure locks the the truck before it starts it (theft protection,?). The truck cannot be locked if hood and doors are not shut therefore remote start won't happen. Push key pad lock button twice if horn honks once truck is locked if it honks twice hood or door is not completely shut and truck won't lock. The double lock button push also turns off the 12 volt delay off items early. The convenience lighting so you can walk away, the radio, the dome light, Ford only knows what else. This might be indicator to computer that you are not returning soon so it may or may not minimize 12v usage. No shit! I'm considering the recessed area of the drivers fender badge???? With the good water tight noco plug..I knew the doors had to be shut and vehicle locked, guess it never crossed my mind with the hood.
With the Tremor, not a great location to put one of those NOCO plugs unfortunately. I was hoping somewhere inside the drivers front wheel well but the wonderful felt/cardboard liners nix that idea.
That might be an option - curious how large the Noco plug is - looks like it would be a tight squeeze on/in the badgeI'm considering the recessed area of the drivers fender badge???? With the good water tight noco plug..
