That’s not true either. Older forum users aren’t going to complain about the blinker being too loud because they have so much hearing loss, that it doesn’t seem loud to them.
It’s going to be young people that perceive the blinker as being too loud.
I don't know about that. My grandfather couldn't hear my Grandma chatting at him from 5 feet away but if the Bucs had a turnover, he'd catch that and if any of us whispered a swear word he was on it. lol

But this topic is about Ethel complaining from the other end that the blinker is too loud over the phone.

And I figured the crack about the average age being 80 was a slam at people telling the OP that driving is more important than talking on the phone.
I get it... was just making a comment in jest.

If it's a generated tone shouldn't you able to go into forscan and togle it off? Asking for a freind.

Fun thread. What we used to say on another big forum, this one’s got legs! 🤣

So was driving my ‘24 Lariat Hybrid yesterday, and randomly turned my blinker on. I could barely hear it while having a conversation with my passenger. Shrug.

Guess my next test will be another random turn indication while on a phone call, hands free of course. I’ll have to risk ridicule here & possibly confusing anyone driving behind.

Eeh probably worth it. After all, we don’t want such a prolific thread to just fade away!

Per OP it's not the passenger complaining but the person on the other end of a phone call that's apparently hearing the brassy portion of the click being picked up by the cheap A$$ Microphone!

Hence my second test, results forthcoming. However in my observed first test, the volume lever was so low it made me wonder if the cheep ass microphone would even pick it up.

And if any microphone is that sensitive can it accurately be called cheep ass? 😇🤣

Haven’t seen any model/year/trim level comments. Makes me wonder if there’s a difference?

Hehe! Thanks for all the comments. It was a joke really. So many in this thread sound like curmudgeons. Don't talk to anyone! Don't smell that smell, it takes away your concentration! Keep those hands at 10 and 2!

It was just cracking me up actually. I can just see a bunch of folks sitting around a Waffle House complaining about blinker noise and them fangled cell phones etc etc.

I am 56 so I fit that Gen X I guess. I haven't received my Maverick yet (1/13 build week) but I can' t remember the blinker being that loud during test drives.

Anyways, it was said in jest my good people!

Weirdly specific anecdote that is unrelated to perceived loudness of an inanimate object.

I’m GenX, born in the 70’s. This is my audiogram. It’s graded in 5 stages: no hearing loss, minimal hearing loss, mild hearing loss, moderate hearing loss and severe hearing loss. In the 500-2,000 hz range, I have 30 db loss in both ears. My hearing loss is typical for a 50 year old man, as men tend to have more occupational and recreational sound exposure than women do.

So a loud, 80 dB blinker is going to sound like 50 dB to me, which is loud enough to be heard, but not perceived as a “loud” sound, by any stretch of the imagination. Typical conversation is 45-60 db. 80 db is about as loud as a toilet flush.

The perception of a “loud blinker” is going to be a phenomena of young people.

The flip side is that if the OP was older and had some hearing loss, his caller may complain about the blinker, but then he wouldn’t think anything of it, because it would sound just fine to him. So by posting this comment here, it makes me think that his caller complained about it and that he also agreed that it is too loud.

People keep telling me the blinker noise is very loud and annoying when on a phone call. Especially if at a long traffic light waiting to turn. Anyone else hear this complaint and does anyone have a work around for it?
I think the blinker sound is perfect, can hear it easily without it being annoying.

Ooh! New thought, possibly. A previous vehicle I owned, the turn indicator audible got very loud when you forgot to turn it off from other than an auto cancel from a full turn, IE: lane change (everyone does use their signals for lane changing (BMW & Mercedes drivers excepted))?

Since the OP said sitting for an extended light, perhaps that was it? Extra volume reminder for our (me included) older more forgetful drivers to cancel it? 🤭😇🤣
