Full bonnet wrap. I can't say I'm thrilled about the look. It kinda matches the tonneau cover. But I also think it is function over form. If this helps dissipate the glare it will be well worth it.

I end up dropping the sunvisor (which knocks out the sun) and raising my hand to block the bonnet reflection.
A broad brimmed hat helps, too.

In particular, a full western (cowboy) hat with maximal downturn in the font.

Oh, and make sure you get the full 5" brim, not the shorter brim on lesser and inexpensive hats.

In combination with full drop on the visor, you are able to tilt your head a bit to get a narrow horizontal band without glare.

And in worse case scenarios, just pull over for a few minutes, and the sun changes position enough.

I can't stand wearing polarized glasses!
I've never had a choice!

I absolutely must wear both the broad brim and the polarized lenses. In the summer (OK, so I live in the desert!), even not headed into the sun, I get nasty headaches in about five minutes.

[this apparently mostly happens to blue eyed people, which I'm very much not, being on the darkened of hazel]

Most polarization is done in the same direction (I presume horizontal). The cheaper brands, including some Chinese junk, seem to do it randomly.

We put a stereo in my father's truck, Panasonic iirc, in which the idiots had mounted it at 45 degrees from normal, which is enough that you either need to look around the lenses or tilt your head 45 degrees.

And with a watch, you'd need your wrist aligned properly, of course.

None taken, it's not my hood. Even the OP is not crazy about it. As he said it's function over form.
All I did was answer his specific question.
I did not offer anything outside of answering his question.
As a matter of fact I waited until page 2 post #24 to see if anybody would actually answer his question directly.
@Geppetto asked.

Having been in that industry for the last seven years. I felt I could answer that question pretty confidently.
I've not known you to be any other way, Glen.

I put the max legal film on my windshield. Blocks UV light to reduce heat - but visible light is unaffected. My hood’s glare shot right through my polarized sun glasses
😎

I’d be better off if I let my hood get dusty instead of keeping it waxed & shiny bright!
I don't know what the law is regarding what one can do to the windshield. I know they have a film that blocks UV without shading. That would seem to me to be perfectly fine. Even if it was considered illegal, if it's clear who would know it's even on there.

My windshield UV blocking film is clear - as required by law. I do have a dark tint on my windshield brow - but it stops at the “AS-1” mark that is etched into all our windshields….no tints allowed below that mark.

Edit - Dogs, however, CAN see into the UV range. The UV tint help reduce the light for them;)

Nope, just the wizards and cats. :)

note: I had to Google it to see what it was and that was in the answer as to who/what can see it.

What Is a Car Bonnet: Definition and Purpose
A car bonnet is the hinged metal cover that protects the engine compartment at the front of a vehicle. In American English, this component is commonly called a “hood,” while British English and most Commonwealth countries use the term “bonnet.” This protective panel serves multiple critical functions in a vehicle’s design and operation.

The primary purpose of a car bonnet is to shield the engine and other vital components from external elements such as rain, snow, dust, and debris. It creates a protective barrier that helps prevent premature wear and damage to the engine parts. Also, the bonnet contributes to the vehicle’s aerodynamic profile, reducing drag and improving fuel efficiency at higher speeds.
Just to be clear....
The Rear area is Called....
(American) = Trunk / Trunk Lid.
(English) = Boot

To the OP... I would assume the glare is certain times of the year and for how long...
