Seating position may affect how it hits you. I’ve seen black Matt decals on the hood that could help. Or don’t wash your bonnet
I remember route 2 in MA has a straight section with a small incline that (at certain times of the year) wouldn’t need the bonnet to totally blind you.
I end up dropping the sunvisor (which knocks out the sun) and raising my hand to block the bonnet reflection. And moving around in seat to get rear view mirror and or reflections out of way. Going to try a flat black bonnet vinyl wrap.

There are several members here that have the black decal on the hood…. Aka the black ribbon on the bonnet (Georgia, really?).
Anyone with that “stripe” reading this post!
Or wrap the whole bonnet in flat carbon fiber film.

I was temped to go that route as you can buy that stripe on line but felt with my luck LOL, it would catch all the reflections.

I can't stand wearing polarized glasses! They screw up my screens on my phone, watch, or truck display. I was just reminded why I don't ever wear my $300 Maui Jim's. Polarized! They do help some with glare, but the trade off isn't worth it for me.

Reflections are coming from bonnet, not the dash. Glare off dash, to me, is non-existent. Glare is not dependent on season, if the sun is low in morning or evening and I'm driving towards it, the reflection off bonnet is very irritating. As sun gets higher I'm hit with both direct sunlight and reflected sunlight. Visor can block sun when higher but obviously not the lower reflections.
I agree about the dash. I haven't had any issue with glare in the year I have owned my Maverick. What color is your Maverick? Mine is Atlas Blue which is a darker color. Darker colors adsorb sunlight rather than reflect them. I wonder if paint color creates more glare on some than others.

AI Overview

Dark paint on a car primarily absorbs sunlight and converts it into heat rather than reflecting it, causing dark cars to get hotter than light-colored ones. Because they absorb, rather than reflect, most of the light, dark vehicles typically do not produce intense, blinding glare in your eyes, although they do experience higher surface temperatures and more rapid UV fading.

My luck heading east the AM and west in the PM I get hit with multiple sun reflections off bonnet. What's your experience with matt or satin wrap for bonnet?
Mark,
or should I address you as Marcus?
Whether you cover the whole Hood or partial.
3m matte black vinyl wrap will give you the best results. Satin will still reflect but a more dispersed reflection.

That's exactly what I'm going with. My understanding is it has a better life span than satin.

I have same, atlas blue. It may absorb some but it is still off the charts.

Mark,
I'm glad I could answer your question.
As long as you go with a quality brand like 3M. The lifespan of the matt or the satin are the same.
There are different qualities of wrap within the 3M brand. For 7 years I was in the vinyl wrap industry.

Everyone can laugh if they want but - remember those glasses years ago called BlueBlockers ? I used to run 74/76 in North Carolina with the sun using the hood of my 71 Challenger as a sun reflector.
I bought a pair of the BlueBlockers and the glare was gone...sun was still there but no glare. I have seen similiar glasses, not called BlueBlockers, but they do the same thing.

I know your pain. Have the same issue. My Mav is silver. You get the visor set, But then get blasted by the reflection off the hood. Etsy has a lot of options for hood decals. Most of them just cover the center of the hood. Local wrap shops can cover either center or the entire hood. I like both options. Just not sure I want a completely blacked out hood. Was hoping our awesome fellow Mav owners have any experience with either. Til then I’ll just keep driving by Braille, using the lane dividers..

My sister gets “Blinded” by the Light🎼
Very sensitive. She has a clip-on amber “extender” for the visor. She says it helps her drive fine (I question that).
