I bought my Maverick May 2023, and it only has 9000 miles on it. Its parked mostly outside in Southern California. The black trim with "Lariat" embossed on it both ob the driver and passenger side front fenders has already faded. Also the black trim on the keypad on the driver side door and the black paint on the door posts both door posts are faded. See the pictures. I have never used the keypad, didn't do any special detail work, or upgrades to the car. I think its a manufacturing defect because look at the Keypad, its completely faded but the post around is hardly faded. I took it to one dealer and they refused to repair it under warranty. Anybody see anything like this or know how to get Ford to fix it under warranty?

Not sure what's going on here, but if any of my plastic surfaces start fading, I'll first try the stuff used on my old Avalanche cladding... Carworx Refinish Restorer. https://www.amazon.com/Carworx-133-175-Refinish-Restorer-500ml/dp/B008A5GRHM

There may be others. but it's the only product I found to make those black panels shine like new.

I also live in SoCal and my car is outside all of the time unless in a parking garage. I do not take it through car washes. What's on the black looks like wax residue.

I use this Chemical Guys product on the interior as well as on all of the black on the exterior. I also use it on my bed cover. Works like a charm. I do car shows and have taken a few trophies this year so let that be an idea of how well it works.

Amazon has it in gallons as well.

This is why I only use cerakote based polymer protectors or 303.

I picked up my truck in early February 2023 and it went through 2 ice storms in 2 weeks. Heavey salted roads etc.. This happened to 2 small areas on ours within the first month of ownership. It behaved like the salt and road treatments had penetrated the pores of not yet fully cured plastics and settled in. We picked up some MOTHERS' Back to Black and used it a couple of times and conditioned the whiteness out. I haven't had to use MOTHERS' at all since last Febraury. We have had a few snow storms this year, heavey road salts and still no more issues. Last years troubled areas show no signs of issues this year.

Yep, Cerakote for plastic trim - but not Cerakote for painted surfaces!
Yep. Although, my last application of the stuff I had some left over so I applied it to the inside bottom of the tailgate just to see what happens. So far, so good. I still would not apply it where it can be seen though.

Although the door pillars aren't painted. They're just a stick-on vinyl or similar material.
Exactly. You should only use the "Cerakote for Plastic Trim" on the plastic door pillar applique.

Looks like a bad wax job... I can see wax or something in between the lariat logo and the body of the truck...
I picked up my Maverick XLT about the same time as you did. I did Clay borrow it and use the spray ceramic coating and I have no fading on the black plastic on my Maverick. I noticed some heavy swirl marks that looks like it might have gone through a car wash that uses the brushes. Or possibly someone using a orbital polisher or something when detailing the truck.

Try some back to black or armor all.
Never, ever use these products. They are crack for your plastic. The more you use them, the more you will have to continue using them. Use 303 Aerospace protectant on it. From Gold Eagle.

I’ve used that 303 too, as well as a heat gun.

I one hundred percent have the same situation with my 2022 XLT FX4. Especially the bed rails around the pick up bed. It is probably the biggest disappointment I have with the truck.
