And it’s not particularly good at either.
I read some customer reviews on the Pirellis. There were some customers that were content but a number of the stated snow and wet traction were challenging. Since I live, for the time being, in Western Washington I will need something for wet roads. I am thinking about the Falken tires, if I can get trade in credit. If not, I will likely buy a good set of winter tires.

Fair Points. I have no experience with the tire, and will give it a go before I switch them out. I know I can't really compare them to my LT tires as the Maverick is really more of a car/suv tire application.

Not sure why not a 235 though.....the ATR is available in a 235/65R17 & 245/65R17 as well.

Anyone know what would be involved in changing the tire size in the ECU? I know in the Factory Ford Performance Tune for the Ranger ECU also gave you the opportunity to change tire sizes.

The lightest AT tire I could find in 245/65 17 was this Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse AT at 31 lbs. 50,000 mile treadwear warranty. That's some significant weight savings of rotational mass compared to the other 35-39 lb tires. But as a new tire, I couldn't find any reviews or comparison tests yet.

Good find, that’s incredibly light for the size. I think I’ve settled on the Toyo Open Country AT III which, in 245/65r17, is 34lbs.

LT tires have a much stiffer sidewall and produce a harsher ride. An XL rated p-metric on 1/2 tons are plenty. On a Maverick, LT tires would do more harm than good.
Plus the weight of LTs. I've put on LTs in the past for towing but heavy tires are hard to spin, so fuel economy goes down.

I plan on XL rated Ps but haven't decided which.

1st priority is winter tires. By the time we actually get our Mavericks, it'll be time to swap in winter tires.

We don't have any snow here in Hawaii but it's good to have tires that can handle a little off-roading once in a while. I have a FWD XLT that my truck buddies call the "pavement princess".

I've purchased the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain T/A which gives good on-road driving and offers good performance and is very quiet. Upgraded the width a little to 235/65/17s. Black letters out. You all should read the reviews . . . it's a great tire!

I saw the new michelin crossclimates come in 245/65/R17. All season street tires with an oversized look. Anybody done it? Thoughts?

I have the cross climate tires on my Subaru Forester and they are nice tires. I don't have my Maverick yet, but if I did I would get the Vredestein Pinza tires. Lightweight, look great and an outstanding review by Tire Rack.

I'm selling my forester when my mav is built. I was looking at the vredesteins. Go figure. But tbh I doubt the truck ever leaves the road. It may get a factory tune if Ford releases one. Which is why I wondered about the tires.

In Canada, the Nokian brand is a go to tire for winter performance.

They have recently introduced a new line called Outpost AT and Outpost APT. Looks very interesting.
They are advertising 29.5 lbs for the APT in the 245/65/17 size.

I also considered Crossclimate 2 but think I'll stick with Nokian as I have been very impressed with them in the past.

Looking to purchase an all terrain tire to replace the 225 Pirelli's on my 2.0/AWD/FX4/4K build. I will be sizing up with 245/65/17's. I thought I had settled on the Falken Wildpeaks because of many favorable reviews and if Ford used them it seemed like a logical selection. However, in that size those tires are 39lbs, or 10 pounds heavier per tire over stock. Is there another, lighter option people are looking at?

At this time I am also heavily considering the Cooper AT3 4S (36lbs) or the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 (36lbs). Both alternatives have the same 65,000 mile rating as the Falken.
Why is weight important? Rolling resistance? You're not pedalling a bicycle.

Makes sense. In the Midwest USA we get all weather extremes. But surely not the extended
