Just got my $45 Motorola MA1 and the install went well, but acclimating to the navigation may take a bit.

Question is : What AA App's do folks find most helpful?

Google maps came up right away, but later I downloaded gasbuddy on my Pixel 4A and it didn't display

I've been using Waze more often that Google Maps, lately. For me there seems to be less clutter. You lose some map details, like alleys, but it is still plenty of visual data for travelling without overwhelming the screen.

I also use the Pulsar + app. It works well for playing my downloaded music.

Poweramp Pro for personal music, VRadio and MyTuner Radio for Internet radio stations (even hometown stations when travelling), Waze, Sygic and HereWeGo for Navi (HWG has great 3D satellite maps), Weather & Radar Pro for live weather and satellite radar, Scanner Radio for emergency and police scanners by location, Fermata Auto for video including YouTube and even IPTV (when not driving of course!).

KingInstaller is not an Android Auto app per se, but it can install some (not all by any means) non Google Play Store AA apps so they can be recognized by AA and seen in the AA menu. Pretty cool.

I'll probably think of a few others later...

I also use an Android App called Radio Recorder to record my favorite Internet Radio stations to my phone's SD card for later use. I record huge MP3s of my favorite radio stations that last many hours in single MP3 files. Works great for road trips when you just don't want to mess with fumbling around changing music. I have some pre recorded radio shows that are over eight hours long in a single file!

Podcast Addict and, more importantly --> Weather & Radar ... gives you satellite and radar for where you are and follow you (& free). Definitely agree also with the VRradio app recommendation. Ps - the Weather & Radar app I use is this one

Hi TrailMaster! Does Fermata actually let you play video from phone? While moving? (not advised of course). Thanks for that suggestion btw.

Agree. Pulsar is the best Android music app and works with all the truck's on-screen, physical and steering wheel controls - even the free version.. Neither version has ads - the pay version just has a few more bells & whistles. And Pulsar does not share any data with 3rd party companies.

I use Spotify. I download what I want to hear, as I am limited to my data useage. I have never had an issue .

Yep. I had some stutter with HD content, but was using my old phone with 4G and the wireless AA (Bluetooth) connection. I'm going to try it with a wired connection and see if it helps, but I'm guessing 5G would stream HD as smooth as silk through wireless AA.

And yes, don't watch/browse video while driving!

I use Waze when traveling, and Google Maps for local driving. Also use Audible a lot for listening to audio books when I travel for work, which is a lot.

Great suggestions! I added Waze and immediately saw a crash icon 2 blocks away, when I turned that way a fire truck was just arriving. Also cool is the auto zoom out when speed increases.

Weather & Radar also works good and the music apps will take some time....

Now to program my brain how to navigate through the various uses.

How's the algorithm for Pulsar. I used PowerAmp (Pro version) for 10+ years and I have 1700+ songs on my phone, but it wouldn't play a artist that I had 22 Albums, but would play an artist I would have only 2 - 3 albums worth when on shuffle. Would repeat songs that I heard the previous day. I tried everything that the Devs suggested and still didn't have any luck. Then I moved over to AIMP and it started to do the same thing of late. Both of these app where great apps.

I do use PowerAmp EQ it's a must have!!
Any bluetooth audio thats connected to my phone I grab the EQ profile from here https://autoeq.app/ Which also you can use on Peace EQ interface for Equilzer APO for Windows.
