Bed track cleats

Does anyone know how to remove the cleats/lugs from the tracks on the Maverick truck. I thought I would remove them,to deter someone from stealing them. I can't figure it out. My problem stumped the salesman too.

You might not need to worry about them getting stolen then if two people in good lighting with all the time to figure it out can't figure it out.

Maybe you have to take the track itself off to remove the cleats. I would like to think Ford made them robust enough to not just slip out of the track or just held in place by some flimsy mechanism.

I don't have my Maverick yet, but I'd like to be able to use it as a secondary anchor point for tie downs on a motorcycle.

From what can tell from mine you would have to take the track off and the end cap. There is room to slide them off.
