So I’m trying to figure out if is it possible to create an OEM style bed light button utilizing the 12v flex bed? I’m not really sure how this cargo bed light hooks up? It’s only 2 wires and is a push button style. I was trying to figure out if it is possible to make a pigtail or something so I can use it to power so lights? I’m thinking I might need a “jumper harness” or additional wiring. I made a toggle switch which has 3 wires and will work to control the lights but I like the push button cargo light switch style. Any help/info to see if this cargo button light could work would is greatly appreciated.

I was looking into doing this too and another member has done it. The issue with that switch is its a momentary switch so you need to setup a latching relay for that switch to signal to turn on and off.

my 2 cents was it seems lot cheaper to just buy a normal latching switch and attach it to that one's shell somehow. Finding a latching relay with power off memory to support that momentary switch is a lot more than a basic latching switch.

So I installed my own lights but if you are trying to toggle the factory ones you just have to tie into that harness. The switch I used was a lighted push button. 2 position on or off. It had 5 wires. But that was to operate the different light options for the button itself. It was fairly easy to figure out. The switch came with a wiring diagram and the rest is just a 2 wire 12volt one hot one ground. Look what you got, scribble it down somewhere and compare it to diagrams on google, and there ya go.

Here is the thread of what I installed. Its not super detailed but it might help.

Depending on how electrically inclined you are you could potentially tie into the C404 connector beneath the bed as Telemachus did.
1) Verify that pins 5 and 6 are populated on the male/front side. You will need two matching female terminals; DU2Z-14474-CA should be a pack of 5.
2) Connect one leg of your OEM style button to a female terminal on pin 5 of C404
3) Connect the other to a ground. This might require ~100 ohm resistor, but a sufficiently distant ground point might do (near the muffler?)
4) For the light itself add a terminal to pin 6 of C404 that will be your positive 12V. A suitable ground is your choice.
That should give you full OE-style functionality being able to toggle the light with the switch whenever as well as operating with the high mount cargo lamps when opening the doors and via the interior cargo lamp button.

Wish I would have got that info sooner. Settled for the toggle

So looking at this thread and a few others I have been working on doing this on my 2024 XLT EcoBoost. After pulling apart the 404 connecter under the bed, there is no pin 6, just pin 5. Does anyone have any direction from this point? Utilizing the same set up as @telamachus did. I was pumped for OE functionality but now have hit a wall.

No wiring to pin 6 on either side of the connection? Also, possibly double check if there's a Black w/ Green stripe wire on some other pin of C404 just in case they moved it for '24MY. If that fails you could run a wire from the high mount cargo lamp since they're the same circuit. It travels up the passenger rear C-pillar and should be Black w/ Green as well.

I'm going to check this tomorrow. Can confirm no pin in 6 slot, but the wire color should help. Much appreciated! I'll report back what I find to help others out.

Yes I agree with tapping the rear cargo light. That is what I was going to do but settled for the toggle. Hoping you find the solution

Ok, update...

2024 maverick XLT 4k tow, cp360. No pin in 6 slot just empty for pin 5. No other pins available. So.. wired in the lights from the cargo light up top. Ran them in a common power from the cargo light on the cab to the driver side and added 2 white trailer marker style LEDs. Lights are then common grounded to frame with the switch (like the factory ground interrupter) to then control the lights on and off.

Now for my new issue.

Lights fade in with the cargo light, such as a unlock from the fob it opening the door. The light also fade off with a lock of the fob or time out of the door. If I turn the lights on at the switch that I added that grounds through pin 5 controlling the upper cargo light they will not shut off with the lock of the door and have to be manually turned off. I haven't left them on to see if they time out. Does anyone know ? Now I'm worried and feel like I may just leave them on the door lock only with no switch. Don't want an accidental battery drain.
